What's the best kind of mix sold from the store or do you make your own?

my mom used to make what i swear was the best powdered hot chocolate ever. she bought the carnation powdered milk, cocoa powder...and some crazy shite that made it so much better than anything out there.

she would mix up a huge tupperware with it and we'd have it for years before she'd make another batch.

i miss my mom

Friend,

A well timed question, indeed, as Mother has announced that this Saturday will be Front Day. I have been enjoying Max Brenner drinking chocolate this hot chocolate season. It came with a high recommendation from a TDer two or three years ago, and he was right.

Not a mix or readily available but the best hot chocolate I ever had came from a place called Kakawa Chocolate House in Santa Fe. I had their chili version. It may be the best single thing I’ve ever tasted. Absolute explosion of flavor

ETA: looks like you can buy it

Friend,

Your description of it has so intrigued me that I have just purchased the Trio. They say it will ship tomorrow or Wednesday, and it is two day delivery. I do hope it arrives before Front Day so we can try it for that special occasion. Thank you for your commendation.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

P.S. I laughed when it asked at checkout if I wanted to add a tip.

For a product that's available from almost any grocer, their dark chocolate version is quite tasty.

I prefer a French style hot chocolate, really really chocolatey.

This one is pretty decent.

Be careful on scorching the milk. Whole milk works best as well.

Surprisingly, the great value k cups at walmart are really freaking good. Rich chocolate flavor and very creamy.

Swiss Miss, with a double shot of Bailey's Irish Cream. I know there is a chocolate version of Irish Cream. That would be nice, too.
