The English word for pout in French sounds like bobbin. How is it spelled?

My Cajun family said that when I was a kid. "Aw, a fit lah pain", poor bae bae, he's making a bah bin. As your post implies there are a lot of Cajun French phrases and words I know how to pronounce but don't know how to spell them and write them.

babine
Is the spelling in Monsignor Jules Daigle's authoritative Dictionary of the Cajun Language.
But he also says that since it developed primarily as a spoken language, there is no authentic precedent for the spelling of most Cajun words.
ETA:
Boudé - pouting
Babine - lip (especially lower hanging lip)

To add a different word, In Pierre Part where my Grandparents lived, they used to say "bee-nate" as well as "ba-bean"
Like, "look at that big bee-nate, he's sad/mad him" (facial expression)
"boo-day" was to pout and "ba-bean" was like the bottom lip sticking out.
Just saying cause they were Swamp Cajuns, Prairie Cajuns had different sayings in my opinion.

I found the answer faster than it probably took you to make this thread.

Since we’re on the subject, what is the word when something is dumb? My husband says something that sounds like “pah-don” (as in “that’s padon”), but google hasn’t helped with a real spelling.
