I worked in Donaldsonville for twenty-two years. That place is awful and the people that live there will start rumors about a person even if you're not from that town. Some of the people are decent but the majority of them are poor and lie to the government so they can get their butter and cheese. When I left I promised myself that I would never enter that town again. I left in 1988 and I never broke my promise. They have some really nice old homes in that town. When I heard about the shooting I was not surprised at all. I just wonder what took that town so long to have a crime like that. Most of the people that I had dealings with lived back of town. I needed a change so I resigned from my job and I had another job a couple of days later. The town of Donaldsonville is pretty and it has a rich culture. I had a bad experience in that town so that's why I would never go back.

I’m in a FB group message with people I graduated with. They sent the video in the group of the shooting. It happened at the corner of Clay and Lee. That’s directly north of the baseball fields and just down the street from the stadium.

Kid is in a blue mustang or something and his window is down. I guess he and some kids are taking shite to each other and one of them hits the kid inside of the car. Kid gets out and walks right up to them and starts unloading.

I have a lot of clients in Donaldsonville, including Mayor Sullivan. I have politely told him I won’t come there after 6pm.There are too many people just walking around looking for trouble. He didn’t disagree with me. I will say there are a lot of really really nice working class black folks in that town. And the usual 15-30 year old black male murder squad.

No wonder you feel the way you do. And it’s “backatown”, bitch.

I saw the pics of where it happened at and it’s literally right outside the stadium. Like right fricking there. The neighborhood there actually isn’t bad and I’d consider it to be semi-safe. Sorta on the edge of pretty decent homes and ghetto but the decent there outweighs the ghetto in my opinion. The stadium is not at the school itself. If anyone is familiar with where the school board office is, it’s the same area.

I’d agree with everything you just said. I grew up in Donaldsonville and graduated with Mayor Sullivan’s daughter. Very, very good people and they understand the issues Donaldsonville faces without pretending the obvious doesn’t exist. The city after 6:00 isn’t terrible, depending on what area you’re talking about, though there are many areas I’d avoid at all times not just after dark
I occasionally had to go take photographs of client properties in “backatown” and those were truly some of the most nervous moments of my life. Skinny white guy driving around the hood, slowly, searching for an address then parking and walking around the homes (which were sometimes unoccupied) taking pics. I was getting all sorts of looks by area residents and “passers by”. After the fourth or fifth request I told my boss I wouldn’t do it anymore. Figured I had pushed my luck enough
