He was great and as along as hes off ball hes great. Personally, I still don’t like him on the ball in a point guard role. But playing off Zion, Jonas and BI- hes great in that role.

It’s like 1.12% of the season. Nice game but this same post was made about Derek Carr and Blake Grupe after 8% of the Saints schedule (one game) was played and now look at us.

To deny his lack of productivity last season would be asinine. He had an injury, sure, but if he couldn't play better, he should have sat. If you are out there, don't be a liability.

Bro this is not football or the Saints. Coaching and culture were major issues with saints. With pels its honestly just about health. I like our coaching and culture. Plus CJ is no Carr lol

Sit if you're hurt, but then I'm gonna bitch about guys always being hurt and not returning when I want them too!!!

He was very productive given the circumstances. Not his fault you expected him to put up Steph Curry numbers on an injury riddled team missing its best player for most of the season and BI for large portions as well. Then he was playing hurt too.

The only time he's been a problem is when he played with a broken thumb and the people that hated on him were the same people that hated on Zion and BI for sitting out due to injury.

Can't have it both ways.

ETA: I see SaintEB just proved my point. I love it when that happens.

He was never the problem. Willie running the offense through him most of the time was the problem. Then he let Zion run point and he was playing great. Then he got hurt and so did Zion.

As long as we’re not running the offense through CJ the majority of the time, things will be gravy.

The hatred for our best players on this board is horrible. CJ, BI, and Zion get trashed on this board.

But then they loved Lonzo. Love Herb. fricking ridiculous.

CJ should get more praise than criticism for playing through injury and being a leader.

A hurt thumb doesn't excuse bone headed turnovers and hero ball tendencies that he can fall into.

It can be both but few on this board see it as anything but a binary choice.

Comparing Zo to Herb is a ban-able offense.

CJ is one of the most skilled and experienced players on the team.
He clearly brings maturity and leadership, although understated.

The key is having him play the right role at the right time.

CJ as a 3rd option is a problem for other teams!

He still got attacked on the defensive end by Smart a few times that I can remember, but we'll have to live with that.

I'm gonna cream once Trey is back and we've got 4 legitimate big time scorers on the floor at the same time.

Exactly, and he was forced to play as the 1st or 2nd option all year last year on top of being injured.

He was very low down the list of our problems last year

this got 11 downvotes for being 100% right.

He wasn't right last year. He should have had the surgery.

Yes, because what this team needed last year was another guy sitting when he could play. There are guys on this team that needed to see a guy play injured and I think CJ knew that. He also wasn't a liability with his finger injury like people on here try to make it out to be. He had some bad shooting nights and people just dogged him to death but overall, even when he was injured, he played pretty good.

I'm 100% sure you criticized BI for not coming back from the toe injury as fast as you would have liked him to.

Pick one side, it can't be both.
