Not sure why anybody would move out of state to a liberal city and have their kids indoctrinated with these crazy/ignorant liberal beliefs.

The top destinations are red states.

Louisiana sucks compared to basically everywhere

Imagine finally leaving Louisiana just to move to Mississippi
some parts of coastal Mississippi have embraced the positive qualities of Louisiana culture and are more pleasant than 80% of Louisiana. Mississippi has by all intents and purposes passed Louisiana while states like Alabama are attempting to lap Louisiana. It's unfortunate because I love Louisiana

If you lived in other States you would understand why people move

Seems like every other young couple moving in to Baldwin County, Alabama is from Nola or BR area.

liberal government policies.

Republicans control 69.2% of the state senate, 68.3% of the House, and have 4 more years of gubernatorial control over the last 4 administrations, not including Jeff Landry.

Could just be statistical noise, but it's an interesting thought that people from Louisiana seem to avoid change, or if seeking change, seek out extremely incremental change, as opposed to something more significant.

This. If I could gtf out of this dump I want complete culture shock and massive change of scenery. Would love to live in Utah, but the California infestation has made it unaffordable for middle class folks.

this. this is why most of texas and florida don't appeal to me (even though that is where a lot of jobs/better political situations are).

I left Louisiana in 2012 for Houston. Why? Every major customer meeting (energy) was in Houston. While our customers had offices in New Orleans, all the major decisions happened in their offices in Houston, where the actual executives sat. One of the few good strategic I’ve made in my life

I don’t see myself returning anytime soon unless a highly compensated leadership opportunity opens up in Louisiana. And, I don’t see that happening.

Or it's just that people from Louisiana are, statistically speaking, less wealthy, and can therefore only afford less dramatic moves to similar cost of living areas. Interesting, regardless.
Louisianians are proud people. They embrace their culture and heritage much more than majority of the other watered down places. So giving that up and buying into another way of living is something that is much harder than some baw living in say southern Indiana

Part of me thinks I'd enjoy a place like New Hampshire, but I do like Southern culture, and to a certain extent Midwesterners.

There's almost a 0% chance I'd move to somewhere with similar weather though. Hot and humid, no fall colors, basically hot and less hot most of the year. These are some of my least favorite characteristics of this area of the country.

You can change this and still remain in the South though in parts of NC, Tennessee, Arkansas, Virginia, Missouri etc.

The least likely destinations for Louisianans leaving the state were Delaware, New Hampshire, Utah, Vermont, and Connecticut.

Well agreed, I am unlike most "Louisianians" but I lived the majority of my life there and now reside in the beautiful mountains of central Vermont...and I will be here until my final days. Why would I want to be anywhere else when this is what I see when I walk out the door?

You might want to consider Florida.. Yes it’s extremely hot & humid , and will probably be unliveable in the next 30 or 40 yrs (like just about everywhere else in the South)- BUT having beautiful beaches nearby to cool off makes a dramatic difference… When i lived in SW Florida i was at the beach just about every single weekend, even sometimes on weeknights .

And I don’t know about you guys, but my family that stayed in Louisiana still acts like it’s God’s gift and will never say it’s in decline. They wonder why we would leave

I love LA, but I understand why people leave here.

However if I leave it sure as shite isn’t going to be to Mississippi. I’m getting into the mountains.

There’s something about the Montana/Idaho region that intrigues me. Wide open spaces, few people, great scenery. Probably some brutal winters, though.
