Matthew Vaughn thinks the original Star Wars trilogy should be rebooted

“‘Star Wars’ is the Skywalker family and that’s where I think they’ve gone wrong. They’ve forgot. They’ve done brilliantly in TV but it needs an epic new film. That’s what I would do [i.e. reboot Luke]. Everyone is going to go batshit crazy but let’s bring it on. If you want a new generation, make the movie for them. The old generation, hopefully you make it well enough that they enjoy it.”
As for the DC Universe, the director said he has been in touch with new studio heads James Gunn and Peter Safran (“we’ve been talking”) but no project is currently on the table. Vaughn did confirm that before the previous DC Universe launched with Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel,” he pitched Warner Bros. on a Superman film trilogy alongside comic book writer Mark Millar.

Rian Johnson already rebooted Luke and Leia and did his own version with both those characters

I've enjoyed most of Vaughn's directorial contributions. I like his style, generally. It would disappoint me if he got his wish to reboot Star Wars. Would rather see him tackle something original or at least under the radar.
That said, I looked up his IMDB and:
1) was surprised at how few film he's actually directed. Felt like much more but maybe I'm thinking about all the films he's produced.
2) hadn't heard of Argylle before, but watched the trailer and damn...Dua Lipa looks good in that.

Luke and Darth Vader would be women and Leia would be gay. Han would be black. The dumb character that cant speak could be male though. Yoda would be trans.

One of the best people working in the genre today. He's very good.
I would love for him to do Star Wars or be involved with DC, but would prefer no reboot of the original characters, obviously. Do something new.

So he recognizes how crazy this is. He doesn't appreciate the danger, because there are no personal stakes for him.
Like most of these youngsters in charge of important things, he HATES the older stuff and wants to change it. Sure, he hopes it would be commercially successful, but he doesn't give a fiddler's frick if it both fails AND damages the original IP.

not a fan of rebooting the SW trilogy, but a MV Directed spinoff could be fun - Vader or another sith going HAM like the church scene in Kingsman would be so epic

They will eventually do it. They have no creative ideas of their own. They just chew up established properties and move on.
Unless they do so and outlaw the OG films, which wouldn't surprise me, I'll just ignore it and move on like I do with all of their other new properties.

i agree, its absurd luke didnt have to stop at the space gas station to fill up with gas or R2D2 didnt have a solar charger mounted on top.
lets redo it with all transgenders and transpecies things
they just cant accept people still like the original trilogy more than any of the woke crap movies they tried to push on us.
