There’s times where I was drunk enough to argue boot pizza was better than anything NYC could offer

I know it's a chain but Grimaldi's was by far the best pizza in BR. The closest location to us now is in San Destin and my family and I still go out of our way to eat there when we go to the beach. Now Rocca is the best pizza in BR IMO and I wish Dave would have reviewed it instead of Schlittz and Giggles.

What was the name of the pizza place that was in Prarieville around 2013/2014? Owner was hilarious and the pizza was solid.

Tower of Pizza has that nostalgia bias as well.

I can’t believe people defend that place. I’ve had it more than once and it’s consistent insofar that it’s always not good.

DeAngelos was one of the best. Sad it’s gone.

That's what I was referencing earlier about 35 or so years ago, when someone suggested a "pizza guy" from the Northeast could come into BR and make a killing.

He did initially. He spread himself out too thin too quickly and got some family members involved that caused problems. Seemed like they may have "dumbed down" the product over time as well, but when he first opened it was awesome.

Roma is likely the place you're thinking of.

No clue if the original owner is still there.

This thread reminds me of the thread on the food board years ago where someone dogged on a Louisiana pizza spot. Word spread to the owners on social media (Facebook maybe) which led to an online war for a bit. Was quite amusing. I’m not from the state and have no clue what the name of that place was, but it was a fantastic follow

I'm pretty sure it was regarding Fleur de Lis, who has been shutdown for shitty ownership, shitty pizza, and shittier service.

Same former business that will only sell their property to someone who is willing to revive their business and do exactly what they want for $4.1 million.

I'm from the Northeast and when I moved to New Orleans people told me to go to Zee's. I considered it mediocre at best.

That's ridiculous. I always order plain cheese my 1st time at a new pizza joint. If it's no good, no toppings will make it any better.

Omar is no longer there and it's not nearly as good as it used to be. Last time I went the owner tried to rip me off so I switched my allegiance to Diversion.
