So you desire to have the business close?

I don’t think the business should be successful based on that. I’m shocked that the reaction from some is for the business to close despite that.

Point blank it sucked. As you said, poorly run, rude ownership, terrible food. If you think a business should be successful based on that I truly hope you aren't in the hospitality industry.

Last I looked, not many Mom and Pop restaurants last 70 years — doesn’t matter if they are well-run or not.

I haven’t eaten there in probably 40 years and I frankly can’t recall whether the pizza was good or bad, nor whether the help was rude. I just know I was college student who enjoyed going there occasionally for something different than what was around campus.

They lasted 70 years so apparently I’m not in the minority. Unsuccessful businesses don’t keep the door open that long.

It was a cesspool of rude, over-priced garbage. Rude.All.The. Time. So much wrong with that place.

not a chain - iconic business, brand, building - iconic food product (square pizza) - 70 years - all the nostalgia in the world - cold beer and homemade pizza

When I moved to BR in 2005, a lot of people told me I had to go to Fleur De Lis for pizza. So I go and the whole experience was terrible.

-Dirty restaurant
-Rude bartender with a take it or leave it attitude
-Pizza was horrible
-Cash only with no CC option. Even in 2005 this was unheard of. Guessing they saved a ton on taxes over the years.

I made a post earlier today about wanting to go back in time to Panchos in it’s heyday so I get the nostalgia angle.

However Panchos was reopened here ~15 years ago and it was garbage. Fleur de Lis had been floundering even longer.

The generation that wanted Fleur de Lis in it’s state when it shut down is dying out tbh

They don’t have a business, it’s closed. They have a building where a business once was, but failed. They are selling a building in much need of repair, and some intellectual property, that’s it. They are not selling an operating business, period.

Chances they follow standard accounting practices are nil. No potential buyer would even be able to value the business properly

Profitable restaurant on good real estate in this state generally won’t even fetch that much

But why the absolute disdain for this place? Because it’s popular? This board hates any local business that’s popular or mainstream

Took Jones there because I went as a kid. They sat us next to a 12’ row of mildew crusted towels on the floor because the frosted glass walls leak.

Childhood best friend worked there. Regular customer took a liking to her and waited in the parking lot and followed her to her car after work trying to make moves. She told the owner/her boss how uncomfortable it was. She was told they’re not banning a regular customer and to deal with it.

They cut you off after 2 beers and they will kick you out if they hear you say a curse word. Read the Yelp reviews on that topic.

They could serve cheesy Jesus Christ on Eucharist crust and I wouldn’t give them a dime.

That's bullshite. Besides Superior because of their prices, name me a local place that is successful that everyone hates on.

When the owner is an a-hole, who cares? Why are restaurant owners protected like this?

It reminds me of the pizza place in BR that Restaurant Impossible tried to help. Where the owner was a jerk and rude to the customers. But you can’t fix people that are rude and jerks to the customer. Shocker went out of business.

Fleur De Lis
pastime
Superior
Canes
Lagniappe
Gino’s
Ruffinos

Now, I’m not saying some of that is the best food, I’m saying many posters would be happy to see those businesses close rather than just simply not go there.

I’ve literally never seen any consensus on this board hating Gino’s, LA Lagniappe, or Ruffinos and I’ve been here since I was a teenager.

Superior is only hated for the prices and was mentioned in the question to you.
