How much do you spend on your loyal companion each year?

$2000 (food and vet bills) for my dog to love me unconditionally without fail every minute of each and every day.

My wife has parrots and not all small ones. We have a few Cockatoos and an African Grey. They can get costly so I don't even want to think about what we spend.

More than I’d like to admit on Nudges alone
She’s not long for this world so I’ll buy as many treats as she can eat

Regardless of what they cost, they're a bargain.

If there are no extras, 2 dogs, $50.13 every 3 weeks for food, $350 each per year for annuals.
Total a little less than $1,600

Way more. But he’s sitting here on my lap, about to fall asleep, and it make both of us happy as hell.

Don’t know, don’t care. My Doberman saved my life once. I’ll spend whatever on him and his progeny that I keep.

My rough calculation is about $7k per year for all 4 of them.

I think pets are one of the best investments for "mental health" or whatever you want to call it. Just a great return with them.

Spent $100 yesterday. I love my dog more than almost ( kids and you know who you are) any living being.

Does this question include boarding fees?

We have 5 dogs and 2 cats. As they cross the rainbow bridge, we ain't replacing. I'll be a rich man once that's done. But I love them very much.

Don't keep track, but it is worth every penny.

Curious. What’s the costs?

I have never added it all up but I know I spend at least $200 on their seed and nuts every month. That's not counting the fresh vegetables and fruit we give them or the toys that seem to barely last a few days before they are shredded. Probably $5-6K per year for everything.

Holy shite
Something I learned just moving out to Scottsdale. There are peachy faced lovebirds are around the area. Native to South Africa so they acclimate to this climate. All of them originate from pet birds that escaped or were let go.

To be fair she has 9 birds
One Moluccan Cockatoo
One Umbrella Cockatoo
One African Grey
One Sun-Conure
One Indian Ringneck
4 Green Cheeked Conures
I like the Grey because she talks so well and the Umbrella Cockatoo will ride with me in the truck and jam out to rock music but other than that they are all hers and she loves birds so we seem to grow the flock by a bird or two every year.
I doubt we get any more but if we do I want her to get a Myna/Starling Bird
They are the best talkers. Even better than an African Grey
Starling making Star Wars sound

San Francisco has whole flocks of cherry-headed conures that are native to Ecuador and Peru. They were brought here decades ago as part of wild bird trade and either escaped or were let go. They are now thriving in San Fran. People post videos of them in parks and stuff and it's pretty cool

I agree. I wasn’t complaining about the cost - I’d pay more. My point was that the joy and love I get is worth every penny!
