Looks better than this in your living room.

Less likely to burn your leg on it too. Remember space heater burns? Ha, good times.

Man. I read the thread title and thought you meant a Missile Command video game. I would have bought that in a heart beat.

It would be like having one of those large cabinet radios from the 1930s or 1940s. They were beautiful pieces of top quality wooden furniture with very fine speakers and acoustic qualities - they really sound wonderful.

HOWEVER, these old radio sets use Vacuum Tubes and only have AM, Longwave and Shortwave. No FM.

Check out how much these top of the line Zenith radio sets cost back in the day and convert to 2023 dollars - these sets would cost 3K in today's dollars.

That thing is in great condition. If it was cheap-ish I'd buy it just to pair with my original NES.

"Zenith: The quality goes in before the name goes on."

Some of you young bucks could probably use this tag line for your benefit.

All too well!

If you had dexterity and skill tho you could cook marshmallows in the house with one of them.

I would take out the screen, and make it a litter box for my cat, and hang a little curtain up for privacy.

Remember when America was so well-educated that every family had a particle accelerator in their living room?

Wife and I bought one Iike that in 1981 after we got married. If I remember correctly we paid $600 for it.That would be $2000 in today’s money.
We used it until 2000 when we built a new house,we gave to somebody,Don’t remember who.

I take old TVs and gut them. I mount flat screens inside them and turn them on.

I have a 1965 Sylvania that I found a very rare sized flat screen to fit. Think this is the TV you put on top of the Zenith when it clinked out. Anyway I adjust the color to black and white. People come over and are amazed I have it “still running”

But no it has no value.

Tubes, CRT and flyback transformers haven't seen or worked on one in decades. Don't plug it in, dust, corrosion and component age can create quite a lot of smoke and high voltage sparks.

Don’t forget, if they were smokers back in the 70’s or 80’s back then, all that nicotine glaze will start melting when you turn it on and give you flashbacks backs.

I watch YouTuber in Southern California that restores these sets. The TV and Film industry sometimes needs working TV’s like these for movies or TV shows as props.

You can see the transformation of technology when he opens an older set from the 1950’s full of vacuum tubes and wax paper capacitors to the more solid state stuff in the 1970’s and 80’s and one third the size. One thing is common though with those TV’s, they all seem to fail at some point. Most were fixable back in the day for a reasonable price compared to what you paid for it. Now in today’s age of a 60 inch TV for 300 dollars, if there is a problem you throw it away and buy another one if it is not under warranty. Otherwise it may cost over 300 dollars to fix it in time and parts.

It's worthless without a glass bowl of unbranded candies on top

And a white now yellowed by the sun and smoke from cigarettes lace or rope doily under the bowl of candles.
