I can see Howell having a Cousins type ceiling. Fringe top 8-10 guy at his peak. He can make all the throws. Commies oline is terrible.

Pederson needs to take playcalling back quickly. There is absolutely zero flow to their offense compared to last season.

I will admit the endzone drops against the Chiefs make the offense seem worse than it is, but yeah he has no situational awareness. The Trevor QB run near the endzone call against I think KC was particularly atrocious.

Howell has looked good this year all things considered, but with his weapons the offense should be better. Crazy Howell looks so much better than other young QBs drafted so highly the past couple of years. He may never be elite, but he is at least competent in year 2, unlike guys who seem like they can barely hang out (Wilson, Lance, Fields most weeks, etc.)

Not to hijack but last night was the first time I’ve watched him extensively. I was very impressed with his ability to hang in there, climb the pocket and keep looking downfield. Was a nice change of pace from all the young QBs constantly bailing out. Got the ball out really quick under a lot of pressure as well. If they had a good o line I think he’d actually be pretty damn solid in a year or so.

I can't believe Mike Tomlin has the gall to complain about black coaches not getting opportunities and then decides to keep Matt Canada instead of going after Eric Bieniemy last off-season.

The public don't know everything other than rumors but there are obviously reasons that insiders know as to why he been passed over for so many jobs.

Switch him and Carmichael and I think they're worse.

Pitt is severely lacking on talent on offense.

Wait...Vance Joseph is the DC for the Broncos? The same Broncos he got fired as a HC a few years ago? Has there ever been a coach that was fired as the Head and came back to the same team as a coordinator?

i though the same thing but I guess with new owners it is kind of different.

Still weird though.

I don't think he had options and SP has made a few bad DC hires in his day.

Canada and Joseph are easily 1 and 2.

I wouldn't say easily, Carmichael has a solid argument for consideration. If you want a good laugh, go check out some of the videos breaking down the offense against TB last week. Regardless of the distance, on 3rd downs he would have at least 3 or 4 WRs 20+ yards up field. Would routinely completely vacate the middle of the field (not even a crosser to draw the safetys up or LBers back). Designs plays with multiple receivers going to the same spot (especially downfield). Never uses motion, shifts, or PA.

How many offensive TDs does Pitt have this year?

The Saints have more talent at all 4 phases (QB, WR, OL, RB) and have a minute number

Man I don't know. Watson's performance post-BOB almost made me make a thread stating the opposite.

BOB is an all-time terrible GM but was a good coach.

It's fitting he's back in NE with the GOAT coach who happens to be a below-mediocre GM

BOB gets underrated because he was a terrible GM. Bill used to be a good GM, but has been utter dog shite. It's funny because I make George Lucas comparisons with Bill. He's slowly lost all the talented people who pushed him to be better and got stuck with yes men and his own kids.

That’s a very nice way of describing Bellichik as a GM. Did you know that NE has the highest payroll for WR’s and TE’s?

Dave Campo w/the Cowboys went from DBs to DC to HC to DBs

I don’t understand why coordinators can’t just spend the entire offseason watching all 22 film of the closest version of what they run from more successful coordinators and blend it into what they’re doing? It seems especially easy for like Del Rio or Carmichael who have some great weapons.

The McVay/Shanahan guys do this among themselves I believe.

Some people seek out adaptability and development and some believe they've already derived the best, or hit a point where they rest on their laurels, or, after aged-induced mental decline (which starts in males around 30), can't adapt easily anymore.
