Les had 2 hour practices in full pads everyday and had Some of the nastiest defenses lsu has ever seen year in and year out. Yeah he fricked us by refusing to change the offense, but one thing was always for certain with his teams, his defense was NEVER going to be pushed around. Those days are long gone
Dude we lost 31-13 against Ole Miss under Les the year after the natty in 2008 with a loaded team and talent.
Ole Miss beat LSU 38-17 with our 2015 team and L.Fournette.
There’s so many games and seasons like this. Go back to 2013 for plenty of shite defensive performances too like Mett’s game at Georgia. Or the 2013 loss to Ole Miss despite having OBJ, Landry, J.Hill, Mett and Ole Miss having a bunch of backups starting on defense

I’m not saying that players being arrested or other trouble was common place under Miles, but it felt like it at times. You’re an Idiot.

wut??? Those were some of the most undisciplined teams I've ever watched. Rode around campus on their scooters, got arrested and suspended like crazy.... did you give this even 4 seconds of thought before smashing post?
What's next? Posts about how Coach O ran tight practices??

Even IF Kelly is not the answer, firing les miles was a good idea.
We’d have never won the Fiesta Bowl, had 2019, and we’d be boring as ever. Les could have stayed forever had he just chosen to fix the offense and gave everyone the middle finger:

I feel bad for saying it but usually it takes having a heavy emphasis on thuggery to build a badass, stifling, smothering, defense, I guarantee you on Saban and Miles teams there were guys on defense that even coaches were afraid to be around away from the football facilities
ETA: I doubt anyone is afraid of anyone on our current defense

Who in the frick is even going around talking about Miles at this point?
Get a life.

A major cause of this is not having developed his culture with guys that are in their 3rd or 4th year with him. He hasn't even hit the 2 year mark yet. Give it time to pan out. His ND teams were well disciplined once he got them established.

Yeah, I am really pissed off at Kelley and especially House right now, but this is not fair criticism about completely changing the culture yet.
Les had plenty of thugs, classroom fugitives, and self entitled POS, but he mostly won, so we looked the other way. The old joke was that a fourth of the team was suspended at least for part of the first three games under Les.
Les is probably currently underappreciated for his football success at LSU, but he is gone for very good reasons.

They were also tough as shite and weren't scared to hit.
Miles was a buffoon in some aspects of coaching for sure but his teams were tough, and played mean.
Unfortunately I don't think it's as much on the coaches as we want to say. The players now more than ever are being wined and dined and softened up.
Even the mighty Nick Saban's teams have looked softer and have left of that killer instinct, head hunting style player

What? The lack of character of Les' late career teams lead to his firing. Darius Guice and Drake Davis come to mind first.
Posted on 10/2/23 at 3:56 pm to Bigbro24
Les made some really bad coordinator decisions as well and then he hamstrung the offense for 7 years with his conservative philosophy.

it's more about the kids than the coaches. They are getting money. Some make more than the coaches.

Even football players?

Les is also a shitty human being so don't think this makes a good argument.

Agreed. Miles’ teams had certified GOONS
Posted on 10/2/23 at 6:23 pm to Bigbro24
Is that why Honey Badger got kicked off the team?

The amount of talent LSU had during the Les era is top 1 or 2 in the nation. Bottom line players had to answer to players back then, not just coaches. Sam Montgomery would chew a teammates arse for lack of effort, I don’t see any guy that would do that on LSU’s sideline.
