Got damn that is a terrible way to go. It wasn't instant by any stretch of the imagination. Two of them had to watch one of them get mauled first, and then 1 the other, and so on. That's rough.

Dog must have gone out fighting because out it could have escaped if it wanted to. Hero.

It was likely the catalyst behind the attack.

I didn't go to the bear's house and wasn't mauled by a grizzly today.
Oh, poor downvote queers. Tel us aboot going on a church trip to see the bears. Did the priest stretch your no-no hole, leading you to a life of downvote queering?

Carry a shotgun with slugs in grizzly county.

Grizzly bears are fricking crazy just ask Joe Rogan. They usually start eating before their prey is dead, frick that. The fact they can take down a moose that weighs 1500lbs tells you how strong they are.

Bear spray on a backpack…. The right tool in the wrong place. Doesn’t do any good if you can’t get to it quick.
Does that even work on a grizzly? I’ve read that’s is not super useful and to have the right gun instead.

This is sad and probably true. People walking in Grizzly habitat should not bring their dog.
Humans have ability to plan and override initial instincts when a bear is sighted.
Dog has no such impulse control. His/her instinct is to bark at bear. Bear's instinct is to quash challenge and anything connected with it.
Big disservice to dog and ultimately bear.
eta: .. and of course the humans, but they had a choice. dog and bear did not.

So beautiful...the Fairmont overlooking the golf course is beautiful. Then drive north a little bit to Lake Louise. Gorgeous scenery.

Question. Ive wondered this my whole life. How long do yall think you could play "other side of the tree" with a grizzley. With like a 3ft diameter pine or such. Obviously the bear would get insanely pissed off after a while, which would be fricking terrifying, but half of my brain tells me if you did it for an hour or so the bear would give up. I mean, he cant go through the tree

Nothing is 100% against a grizzly except a perfectly placed shot to the dome. If you have the ability and skill to pull that off, that should definitely be your first option. That said, it's an odds game. The casual shooter or a non-shooter has a much better chance with bear spray.
I've spent a fair amount of time backpacking in grizzly country. I've read books about bears and bear attacks and talked to alot of people about them, both in Alaska and up around Yellowstone. However, I've never had an up close encounter with a grizzly, so take my two cents for what it's worth.

Do you think you could do this with a pit bull? You couldn't do it with a bear either.

A caliber that starts in 4 is the minimum. It only would have pissed off the bear, but at least it would have noticed.
Next up, a Trudeau conference about how bears are marginalized.

Hell of alot more agile than a 600-700lb grizzly. I'm sure the bear gets you almost every time in a straight line. But shuffling around a massive tree like gruesome mutilation is after you I'm not so sure. But maybe
