FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The death of a fan attending Sunday night's game between the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium is being investigated by the Norfolk (Mass.) District Attorney's Office.
According to officials, there was an incident in the 300-level section of the stadium shortly before 11 p.m. ET, and 53-year-old Dale Mooney of Newmarket, New Hampshire, was "in apparent need of medical attention."
After local police and fire personnel arrived, Mooney was transported to a local hospital, where he died shortly before midnight, according to Massachusetts State Police.
A state police spokesman said the DA's office is "investigating the facts and circumstances of the man's death, including the sequence of events prior to the medical incident."
The DA's office said in a statement that the investigation is part of "normal protocol" and an autopsy was not scheduled for Monday. There were no charges as of Monday night.

That's why I try to avoid confrontation at all cost and stay away from crowds.

Anyone who can't control their emotions during a sporting event and start fighting are the biggest pussies in the history of big pussies

Heartbroken Lisa Mooney told Boston 25 News that she heard her husband was being taunted by multiple Dolphins fans during the game - and that footage shows he did not retaliate during the ordeal.

One witness from the scene, Joseph Kilmartin, described the alleged attack by a Miami Dolphins fan as 'hard to watch'. 'They started tussling around for a few minutes,' Kilmartin told WCVB. 'At one point another Dolphins fan walked over. He punched him three times, and the man just went out. It was pretty hard to watch.' He said that Mooney was hit twice in the face before falling into his seat unconscious. Several other anonymous witnesses gave similar descriptions of the 'brutal' attack which caused Mooney to 'crumble', while speaking with Boston 10 at the scene. 'One word I can really use is shocking,' one bystander said.

NFL, 300 level, Pats/Fins, etc. This was a disaster waiting to unfold on many levels.

I sat in the upper deck of a Panthers/Saints game one time. This was when both teams were pretty good.
I'll never do that again.

Dolphins fan should be hanged. That person has no place in a civilized society.
Wearing a Tyreek Hill jersey, too. How appropriate.

Man, what a sick world. It seems like every week, at every venue, there's some brawl with NFL fans.

Miami fans are trash. Saw a miami heat fan try to start a fight at TD Garden after Game 1 against the Celtics in the conference finals last season. And that was a game that the Heat won, so can’t imagine if they had lost.
Garbage people, all of them.

Street fights are, in most cases, pure luck as to who goes down and you never know how they'll hit the ground. A cheap shot punch is not worth the eventual manslaughter charge.

From articles online it sounds like the old guy walked down to the Dolphins fans and grabbed one of them because they were taunting him. He got lit up by another guy in the group and died.

This is what Fins fan is looking at:

I watched the video and certainly didn't see anything remotely close to a "brutal attack." Obviously incredibly trashy but nothing I would think would cause a death. I don't think we are getting the whole story
