They have 4 teams blacked out in charlotte???? That’s just stupid… they expect people to drive to any of those places just to watch a gsme??? Dumb.

Wonder how Florida minor leaguers manage? Man up buttercup. If the area can’t handle the temps then move the team to where there is a chance for success. Florida is not a baseball state. Poor fan support. Attendance for 2023…and one of those teams is moving.

Nobody will go even if you have a new stadium. Look at the Marlins attendance.

1. The city/state would have to choke down the idea of paying for a second stadium. It is costing 2.1 billion to build the Titans new stadium. 500 million coming from the state, 710 million coming from bonds that will eventually be paid back (they pray) in PSL’s, another hotel tax increase and taxes on stadium pro shop and concession sales.
2. There is an existing Triple A park downtown, but other than adding outfield seats and perhaps more seats down the outfield lines, you MIGHT get it to around 20,000 capacity. It’s in an already pretty tight and constructed area and really can’t expand outward. So a new stadium would have to be built. You would be now completely abandoning a park that is less than 10 years old. (First Horizon Park opened in 2015)
3. The newly elected incoming mayor will not play ball (sorry for the pun) with MLB. Just months ago, he voted AGAINST the plan for the Titans Stadium. I’d be shocked if he even let plans off the ground knowing the city/state is leveraged to the hilt right now. He ran on a promise to make the city better for longtime residents, not for billionaires.

It's not just the stadium. Part of the cost is building condos, offices, and shopping.

It's not for the temperatures. The dome is for all the unpredictable storms that Tampa gets.

Arizona is pretty shitty. I went there for the WBC. Rain was coming through the retractable roof, which wasn’t working anyway. Scoreboards, concessions, etc…all outdated. It’s like they’re trying to let it get crappy.

I’ve been to 23 of the current ballparks and will be scratching off #24 tomorrow. I rate White Sox dead last of my ballpark experiences, by far. It happened just this last Thursday BTW. F them and their bait and switch ticket policies. I’m sure my credit card company will get me a refund for the ticket, but those shiesty greed heads should pay for my parking as well.

I lived in Clearwater, so Pinellas County where Tropicana is at. Traffic is crazy there. Was much easier/quicker to get to a Lightning game and they actually play in downtown Tampa.

Lakeland is a hike to St. Pete's. Sarasota/Bradenton and going across the Skyway would be hit or miss. I've been to all of these places. Especially when they shut down the Skyway when the weather gets bad.

I mean I did when it was an absolute downpour outside and you could hear it on the roof of the dome at Tropicana. But you are also talking about an area that is the sunshine and also the lightning capital of America. Hence the name for the NHL team.
Why not a retractable roof? Aren't they the only MLB team that can play inside without one?
They did just play in the World Series. That would be some nice weather there in late October.
I do know that you get downpours in Florida many days in the summer, but they usually don't last that long.

I have season tickets to Rays and Lightning, make the drive from downtown Sarasota all the time. Love Amalie’s location, but definitely quicker and easier to get to the Trop and St. Pete

Most of the people with disposable income near St Pete are diehard Yankees and Red Sox transplants. The "local" disposable income is in the Tampa burbs. An Ybor location would have killed it. This solves nothing in terms of attendance.
