Do y’all have any suggestions of somewhere within 2 hours or so if Atlanta that might be nice to stay for a week? I can’t see doing a vacation to Atlanta.

Blue Ridge. Hour and a half drive probably.

another vote for blue ridge area. There's several small towns w/ great cabins not far from Blue Ridge as well.

I have been to Atalanta many times, but it has always been for LSU or Saints games. A week? No thank you.

How old is the kid?

A week is way too much. You can take most of ATL attractions in 24-48 hours.
Not sure what age the kid is; but, Georgia Aquarium, World of Coke museum are both good choices and right across the street from one another.
Take them to eat at The Varsity. The food is shite; but, it’s an ATL institution. Ponce City Market and Krog are pretty cool.
There’s a few other spots to be sure; but, after a day or two I’d head out. Maybe throw in a trip to Chattanooga.

The Talulah Gorge is a great place to hike. Jump river rocks and just explore down in the gorge.
I really think a 1/2 day guided trip to fly fish from Unicoi Outfitters is great day spent up there.

Be a good dad and talk him out of Atlanta.

Callaway Resort and Gardens are south of ATL about 1 1/2 hours.
Ocoee Whitewater Rafting is about 2 hours north of ATL; probably 30 minutes from Blue Ridge, GA. Something to do if you stay in BR.
You might look around Dahalonga. That’s about 1 1/2 hours north of ATL.
What is he interested in seeing and doing in Atlanta? When I was 18 I would have wanted to go to The Gold Club but not with my mom.

So, would probably enjoy Six Flags.

Look at Unicoi state park. I think they have a lodge and cabins iirc.

He is doing his senior trip in Atlanta? Why?

You’re probably right about Six flags. They would have a blast there! But take cooler with you and eat outside and make sandwiches and then go back In after Lunch. Not a good part of town Unles you enjoy crackheads. But the park is safe.
