Can't believe WBA is $24 a share and their CEO is stepping down after only 2 years or so on the job. I guess smash-n-grab and shoplifting has claimed another victim. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Having said that, I have to buy 100 shares just to see if there's at least a bounce back to $30 before year end.

Eta: Holy crap, now it looks like the stock is halted pending material news. Seems more serious than just a dividend cut announcement

My local Walgreens had staffing issues even with pharmacists. They didn't have one on duty for like 2 months on Sundays and couldn't open. Obviously anecdotal but not a good look. Other issues across Little Rock as well.

Maybe if they built a 2nd one across the street from CVS they’d do better.

Now that I think of it, they should build two more so CVS can’t build a 2nd one. Walgreens would have 3/4ths of the corners at each intersection.

Walgreen's pharmacy service got so bad locally that I had to stop going there. There was a wholesale change over to an entirely different pharmacy crew. I knew something was different when there was a line of 20 people at the pharmacy trying to get their prescriptions filled. The new pharmacist said, "There's a new sheriff in town" and implied the prior staff wasn't cutting the mustard (when, by my observation, were hard-working and responsive). I switched to CVS as soon as I could.

Just looked at the chart on this one. Damn, it has tanked big time over a long period.

I don’t know how y’all deal with any of the big chain pharmacies and their stupid arse employees.
I go to a locally owned small place and it’s like heaven compared to a CVS or Walgreens

This is probably not relevant to the direct topic, but I found it interesting.

Our local Brookshires Grocery just sold their pharmacy out to Walgreens, along with 120 other locations.

Not a problem for me because my Walgreen's doesn't have stupid arse employees...at least, not working in the pharmacy.

The pharmacies at the two walgreens locations by us, have gotten absolutely horrible. Sometimes they can't open due to staffing. Wrong dosages or medicines dispensed. Atrocious customer service. Weeks to get medicines refilled because they were out of stock.

It got so bad we stopped going to them, and we now to go Walmart Pharmacy.

Let that sink in. Walmart Pharmacy is better run, better customer service, and easier to use, than Walgreens.

We have a couple of local pharmacies but they basically run bankers hours.

Same here, my Super 1 Foods pharmacy just completed their transition to Walgreens last week.

Visit the Reddit Walgreens board for a snapshot

The one I used to go to before I moved would routinely have one pharmacy tech helping both inside and the drive thru at the same time

We switched away from Walgreen's about a year ago. The slide into incompetency of the staff seemed to be accelerating, even as they got more woke with each visit, which was shown by their "diversity" sloganed t-shirts. It was clear they had a "Don't hire straight wypipo" policy at the ones here in CenTex.

When they hired one tech who checked a box or two, but was clearly mentally not up to the job, after several interactions with "her" (not sure what it was exactly) we gave up and went to a grocery store pharmacy.

It seems like a lot of chain pharmacies are crazy now days. My wife is a pharmacist (no pics) and she works in a hospital. She said retail pharmacists have been coming in droves because the the national chains are making them work shorthanded with less techs and have outrageous quotas on things like flu shots. Many of the national chains are cutting hours to keep all of their pharmacists part time to skirt benefits as well.

Our local Walgreens doesn't even open the pharmacy on the weekends anymore.

They will. Just give it time. They'll replace them with cheaper new grads as soon as they can. They're all doing it.

Major trip issues post the COV vaccine rush the last couple of years. You could see this coming from miles away. Drug retailers have been struggling for traffic for years and COV was a two year artificial bump.

If you take the time to switch to Walmart, why not go to a mom and pop store? Like another poster said, it is like heaven compared to a chain.

You don't realize what a valuable service the local owned drug stores provide until you have a family member that's nearing end of life due to cancer. You will spend all day trying to find Fentanyl patches or morphine in stock at CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart..... When they do have it. Be prepared to go through a full DEA back ground check with anal cavity search to get it

The local mom and pop place will know you after the first time the scrpits are filled. You deal with the same pharmacy people every time. They will have everything you need in stock and you will be in and out in a few minutes when you pick it up.
