I wear both, but I prefer a round toe. Problem is that 80% of boots out there are square or snip tips.
Square toes are much more comfortable, especially in a work boot.

pretty much this. i like some square ones for wearing out too though.
but for work...all about comfort to me and I find square toes to be more spaceful around the toes.

I'll give square toe a pass in work boots.
After that, have some class. Round or snip toe. Nothing is a better indicator of white trash than someone walking in wearing those frickin broad square toe boots that taper down to the point they look flush with the sole.

I stopped in to the “western” store in Denham across from Sam’s to pick up a pair of boots. As I was looking through the aisles of square toed boots a worker asked if she could help me find something, and when I told her I was looking for some round toe boots she looked at me like I had horns on my head. She said they only had about three to choose from.
So, I guess the square toes are what most people are buying. Not me, though.

If you are using them strictly as a work boot it probably really doesn't matter. Whatever is most comfortable and will hold up the longest is paramount.
Now, if you plan on wearing boots with your good jeans to church or on a night on the with your old lady, round toe is he only way to go. Sometimes you have to class things up a bit.
