I’ve been thinking about doing some home improvements. I researched local companies and looked at their websites, read reviews, try to call these people and nobody answers the phone. Most of them don’t call you back and the ones that do either show up hours later than the appointment time they requested or they just don’t show up and ghost you completely afterwards. How do these people make money?

I think strippers have earned the right to call their industry the most shady.

Try building a house. I had a handful of contractors that were salt of the earth people that were a joy to work with and I would again. The rest I don't know how they make a living. Couldn't hit a deadline to save their life but you bet your arse they were there on the minute when it came time to pick up their payment.

Not even top 5

1. Tech start ups
2. Billboard lawyers
3.”Journalists”
4. Actual politicians
5. Payday/title loans
6.. Shady home repair/construction trades

There are far more good people as a proportion of total workers in car sales or construction trades than in any of the top 5. We actually just had a home repair after a broken water heater. Price was fair and the repair was done properly.

Painters and finish carpenter drug up the day before we were to move back into our house after Laura.
Both had their last draw but wife put a stop payment on finish carpenters check and threatened to call the D.A. on the painters. Finish carpenter handed me his check and bounced, painters finished their shitty job and left.

Years ago, I needed some electrical work done while I was finishing my basement. I called several companies and finally got one to show up to give me a bid. He drove 20 miles to so he could take a look to give me a bid, and he never gave me the bid.

None of that is shady. Just unorganized and irresponsible.

How so?

They are paid to take their cloths off and dance for you.

Every strip club I've been to there's been naked women dancing for men.

It doesn't get more straight forward than that.

Now, if you mean the flirting and stuff to get more money out of you, well, if you're tricked by that just blame it on your dick and a million years of programming.

You didn't walk in there expecting to find a wife or a piece of arse did you?

Most blue collar people that are in business for themselves aren’t the kind to be able to hold down a steady job. They are worthless at keeping a schedule, following up, or being accountable in any way.

It’s less frustrating learning to do home projects yourself than count on some home contractor to get the job 80% done then disappear.
