Michael remained a hurricane until Macon, GA I think. It did a number on farms in SW GA

It cutoff some areas in South Georgia. The state had to clear passages if I can remember. Also, the storm wiped out all the historic trees in Albany.

Rain and wind in Bonita, between Marco (South) Naples (South) and Frt. Myers (North). Nothing worth talking about. I-75 is still a steady stream of action.

Good link, thanks. They are leaning towards it landing somewhat west of the consensus, even as far as Tallahassee, though probably not quite that far. With the caveat that it could be anywhere in the cone on the map.

Reed Timmer, PhD on Twitter(X) said that Cedar Keys, FL will get a storm surge of 10-15 feet.

I'm not a weather person and this may have been posted already, but for those following the storm, I thought I'd share it. It showed up on my Facebook page.

The year to year regularity of Rapidly Intensifying hurricanes in the gulf is getting old

Cedar Key has a 37' hill, but you will probably need a concrete bunker on top of it to keep from getting impaled by a tree limb.

The 1896 Hurricane did level Cedar Key. This will be no different.

Yes.

Classic presentation of a hurricane starting to wind up.

The rolled up fist/shrimp look. The inner core appears to be building up nicely on sat. Probably see an eye by this evening.

Brought a derecho to Florida and Cuba. Storm surge akin to a Category 2 into the Big Bend region. Birmingham got 13" of snow. Mobile got 3". Syracuse, NY got 43" off of it.

Was this a cold front that got in the gulf and then blew up? Or did it form in the gulf. I think I remember BR might have gotten some sleet. I was at LSU at the time so my memory is spotty.

There’s a deeper meteorological explanation but a low pressure system moved into Gulf from Mexico, blew up and rapidly deepened.

Here’s a satellite shot of it:

As mentioned above. There was a foot of snow in Birmingham, and the snow increased as you went further northeast. Mt. Le Conte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park recorded 56 inches of snow. This was all in March, too.
