Storm surge forecast can’t be good. Florida’s big bend is very susceptible to storm surge

I have not even been thinking about my shop in Bradenton. Its upstairs so I dont see any issues...

If it stays on its current track, I don't think there will be an issue at all in Bradenton. My uncle lives in cortez and all he's doing is raising his boat to the highest point on the lift. I had him go pick up a few things around our house in LBK but I'm way less concerned than I was 24 hours ago.

Marianna and north was amazing to see

You can still see that from I-10 around the Apalachicola River. 18" pines just sawed off at the base and laid down, 100 miles inland. Michael was a monster.

Any projections for Gainesville?

Well, our infrastructure is shite, we have the highest tree canopy percentage of all FL cities, and are prone to flooding.

However, we seem to always luck out and avoid direct hits from these hurricanes. If we ever get a direct hit, we're effed. We did get the NE side of Irma as a tropical storm and it did some pretty good damage. Tons of downed trees and flooding. My coworker's oak tree fell on his neighbor's house.

What's worse is with the track jogging a little left, it's staying out in the hot hot Gulf longer, and will become a behemoth at landfall

Can you go to the exact landfall location and get some video for us. Please.

My shop is on 684 in Cortez. Just a few miles from the beach. I am out of town but like you said, other than surge close to the bay, it should be fine there. My boat is in a warehouse in Sarasota.

Hope your uncle gets through ok

That's right. With the projections holding, the big uglies will be over Gainesville. Not good.

1993 Storm of the Century
Basically a winter hurricane. Foot of snow in Birmingham. Tornadoes all across Florida (I rode it out at NAS Jacksonville with pine trees falling like toothpicks--even cancelled the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert that night!

Brought a derecho to Florida and Cuba. Storm surge akin to a Category 2 into the Big Bend region. Birmingham got 13" of snow. Mobile got 3". Syracuse, NY got 43" off of it.
