Most everything around campus is going to have some students living there. Is he trying to be close to campus or just in the BR vicinity?

I'd probably look for a garage apartment or something similar, around Jefferson to Corporate.

Even a 1br apartment in a decent area would be ridiculous for Baton Rouge.

For an apartment close to campus tell him to check out the Alaskan Arms.

He’s looking at getting a place down there but isn’t really familiar with apartments in Baton Rouge.

Why apartments in BR? Look for a house for rent outside of BR

Everyone on here has to be so complicated. The District on Perkins. Adults. Safe part of the city. A good, normal choice.

1780 Bayou Paul Ln, St Gabriel, LA 70776 is on Zillow for $900/ month. It is a 1 bed, 1 bath apartment built above a barn.

It is rural, safe, quiet, and 15 minutes from Tiger Stadium coaches parking.

Given the crime I’ve heard about regarding BR

A lot of misinformation being spread.
From the DA:
“There are about three areas of BR that are responsible for 98% of the crime and all involve gangs and drug dealing.”

Don’t live in the ghetto and he’ll be fine.

All of Baton Rouge is a shithole now. The crime used to pertain primarily to the north side of the city, but is now spreading to the more affluent areas with the amount of Section 8 housing that has sprung up.

Apartments:
Dawson Park
The District
Park Rowe
Blu on Bluebonnet
Rouzan when it's open, should be sometime soon.
Tapestry Bocage

Neighborhoods to rent houses:
Garden District
Southdowns

Plenty more options further from campus, but figured he'd want to be somewhere close by campus.

Also don't go in front of the mall, Bennys on Perkins, IHOP on Seigen, or Petco in Denham Springs. It is fine.

Check out the new apartments on Bluebonnet between Burbank and Nicholson behind Walmart. Called The Bend I think. May not be open yet but probably soon.

There are plenty of nice neighborhoods in South Baton Rouge.
Riverbend would be close to Campus. Down Highland and Perkins there are many good places to live.
