My brother has a job with LSU athletics and commutes down from Bossier. He’s looking at getting a place down there but isn’t really familiar with apartments in Baton Rouge.

Given the crime I’ve heard about regarding BR it makes it less easy to just hop online to pick a spot not knowing if the area is safe.

He’s in his late 20’s so not looking for student places. Any recs on areas or specific apartments OTers have lived?

Holy shite how long has he been doing that. I knew of one girl that would commute from Bossier to Alexandria for work but I can’t imagine what your brother is doing.

Just this last season. He only works when there are games. He is currently not working since baseball ended. He’s gearing up for football. He’d crash on some friends couches if he had to be there for a baseball series.

A few parishes to the east but we’re full, take that up with the Chalmations that started the invasion after Hurricane Katrina. The Florida Parishes are the best kept secret in the state but it won’t be long before the vultures take us over, and we’ll go from Covington 30 years ago to what I consider anything in Covington after you cross that bridge.

I enjoyed living in South BR around Bluebonnet and Burbank area, just stay a healthy distance away from Gardere and you’ll be okay. Shenandoah’s also good but it’s more residential homeowner-y. Capital Heights area is also good to rent in.

I'd stay away from Gaslite II

He probably does not have enough money to rent in a nice area by himself. He will need to get a roomate and see what the city life is about.

I wouldn't live any closer than St Francisville.

My son just moved into the residences at rivermark in the old chase bank downtown. He’s commuting a little further to law school from where he was but is happy with the place.

Downtown is nice, if he can afford it. There are some good apartments on park blvd right by the Cane’s Dog Park. There’s also some nice apartments near the perkins overpass area. Perkins Rowe is another overpriced but nice place for someone in their late 20’s to live.
