Goddam white privilege….

Seriously, happy for all.

The Stabiles know that you don’t own a business, it owns you.

Now it doesn’t.

Looks like Kevin Kimball about to get paid.

I read a story about a guy who owned a road paving who did the same thing. Gave the entire company to his longtime employees and retired.

I’d be willing to bet that Stabler didn’t donate them the land, just the business itself.

How many Sammy’s locations are still open? I know Zachary and Central have been gone for a while now.

I believe Stabler purchased just the Highland Road location. I believe it is the only Sammy’s left.

I hope it makes it big, SBR needs good neighborhood type place in that area.

No doubt. They have to make money too. I'm sure he kept all the realestate and gave the company namesake to the people who've been working their entire lives to help establish the name. Giving them the "company" comes with a lifetime lease caveat. Benefits all parties and keeps the restaurants Stabler work so hard to establish going without having to deal with them...

In an ESOP, the employees are the owners. So what do you mean only the "owner" made money?

Stabiler probably getting to age where he wants to semi retire.
This gets him out of the day to day issues restaurants have to deal with and those employees were running the day to day anyway.
Plus it probably gives him a nice tax break.
Stabiler worked hard and his catering company made a lot of money as well. He catered all over the country and brought Louisiana cuisine with him. He catered for Microsoft and Gates one time.
He was able to cater for all the disasters since Katrina and gov't paid him nicely. He was able to build a nice retirement nest egg from that.

It's a partnership. 3 of the guys listed at Sammy's also got Catering Cajun. I personally know each and every one of them. Wayne does want to spend time with his family, but also wants to do more fishing. Disaster Group is a different company, and he maintains control with government relief contracts, ie. FEMA

Yea, only one I know of was too. I am a skeptic because of that, so this headline reads like 'owner donates $5 million restaurant business with $6M in debt to employees' to me.

Yeah, I thought it was the coach at first, but my wife apparently knows this one & it's not the same person. How incredibly random.

Wow! Dondi McNulty was the executive chef at CCL when I worked there back in the early 2000s. I wondered where he ended up after leaving the club.
