the women's world cup is not an event that draws interest for me. And I generally like international competitions. Rapinoe (and others) up there in age are taking roster spots that could've gone to someone younger, someone else who could benefit from being a part of the team.
Pushing their politics has probably caused a loss of interest for many casual fans the sport may be trying to attract.

I'll admit they don't control all of that and within the team there might be family-centric, more traditional players who'd love to have the average American family tuning in and supporting them and enjoying the competition.
Could you explain what you mean by these terms?

That's kind of my gripe about people's disdain for US women's national soccer team. It's always "they" when talking about how unpatriotic and unAmerican the team is.
There are a ton of younger players on that team now that weren't on the roster when Rapinoe and company started the attention whoring politically.
You know its not mandatory a player plays for the national team. Had all the pro American players bandex together and turned them down when offered and said “I want to play soccer and not get into politics this I must decline due to the toxic nature of the team”. Maybe then changes would have been made.
But nope - every one of them took the almighty dollar over country and pride knowing full well what they got into. I can’t and won’t feel sorry for any of them.

In fairness, would you turn down an opportunity to play in the Masters or the World Series or the Super Bowl?

If raponie is on the team I’m glad they lost.

It's so cute when leftists try to turn around terms they have rightfully and honestly earned and use them against us.
I’m not saying they haven’t earned the term. It’s just sad that y’all are becoming just as bad, if not worse than them.
“I didn’t like the way that person sang the National Anthem against Vietnam so I think they’re being disrespectful to the country”
Cmon man that’s absurd.

Judging by Carli Lloyd's comments...she is NOT happy with the effort and passion for the game!
Hard to get up for a game when you're constantly shitting on a country you supposedly represent.

So unless the entire team holds the same political viewpoints, you have no pride or love of country?
This board is wild.

Haven’t seen this, don’t care to. I’m a bitch because I’m not actively rooting for them, though.

Didn't realize they were struggling. Good to hear

Did they get beat by a team of 15 year old boys again?
Posted on 8/1/23 at 4:43 pm to LSUGrad9295
I didn't like soccer back in the 70's when we had to play that shite in gym class....nothing has changed.

I want them to lose, but not badly enough to watch.

Alex Morgan has to be pissed. She was probably in line to be one of the biggest female stars on the planet, only for Rapinoe and the rest completely tanking the female US Soccer brand.
She was also far and away the best player at the last World Cup, and they gave all the awards to Rapinoe anyway. I bet she literally hates the bitch, along with Ertz.

Starting a check in thread to bitch about a team you don’t give a frick about is an interesting flex.
That’s what happens when you push shite we don’t care about in our faces. Now we will laugh at their expense.

I didn’t know they were struggling until I saw this thread so I guess me.

Are your friends Russia or North Korea playing?
Posted on 8/1/23 at 5:50 pm to LSUGrad9295
I just heard on cbs that it is a smashing success with higher rating than ever all because the women are getting paid more.

I feel like the women's team has been more worried about "activism" these past 4 years vs actually putting a good product out on the field.
Except that "activism" has just been a warped view of what they think they deserve. It has served as a great distraction nonetheless.
