I was at a friend of a friend’s house at a party. A guy I knew and who had hung out with us maybe a dozen times showed up looking distraught. My friend walked over to him and asked him what was wrong, I walked up behind my friend. The guy didn’t say a word, he just pulled out a pistol and shot himself in the head right in front of us. I got sprayed with blood. It really felt like it happened in slow motion.

Senior year of Highschool, I worked for a Jackson Newspaper (Daily News) Sports dept. on High School sports desk two nights a week. Was on West Street headed from H-80 to the paper. I stopped in the center lane for a train coming, and a family in the curb lane didn't. I looked over and made eye to eye contact with the father, and he pulled right in the path of a train. Hit their car right in the passenger door and stopped about a quarter mile down the track. I was running down the tracks and stumbled over the guy's head. For some reason, I still made it to work that night. Almost 60 years back and I can close my eyes and see his face as he looked over at me and never even slowed down.

another

I was working the ER at Womack Army Hospital at FT. Bragg one night when they brought in 6 guys who parachuted out of a plane into a thunderstorm, and all bought the farm. Tough night at work.

UFO silently floating around NW LA firing blue sparks at ball lightning (blue balls of light that materialized right before they were zapped) coming up from below it then kinda drifting off over the horizon below cloud height on an overcast night about two weeks ago.

When I was 10 years old my parents' boat marina was hit by a water spout. I was under a car about 30' away. A piece of sheet metal went a few feet or so over the heads of three people as they jumped into the water.

In the aftermath, one piece of sheet metal was stuck halfway through a piling and some were dropped a mile and a half away.

The storm cloud was pitch black and very low to the water.

Keeping the car wreck theme but lightening the mood…

I was on E Boyd behind another car waiting to cross over Nicholson. This was back when there was only a STOP sign on E Boyd so it could get dangerous. The car in front of me pulled out to go straight and the car coming the opposite direction on E Boyd turned right in front of the car; they collided in the middle of Nicholson. I ran out of my car to see if the driver in front of me needed help. The driver was a very attractive co-ed with a Chi-O jersey on. She was bleeding from a cut on her forehead.

I grabbed a clean towel from my car and helped her hold it to her head while she sat and recovered from the shock. Two male paramedics showed up and checked her out and said she was going to be okay but asked more than once if she had chest pain. They kept saying they could check her chest for injuries in the privacy of the ambulance. She turned them down but finally relented and climbed into the back of the ambulance with the two guys and the doors closed behind them. I left at that point but still laugh at the way the hardlegs got to get a peek at “the goods.”

USSR flag coming down for the last time in Red Square December 31, 1992.

The place I worked was a big video production house and I was the head of graphics. My boss had been traveling to the USSR prior to the collapse. I did modern American style 3D flying logos for the Russian TV networks that replaced the 1950's style art cards.

A few months later, the head of all Russian TV came by and shook my hand and thanked me. Guess it was a hit symbolic of changes to come.

That's on the jumpmaster and the flight crew. They never should have put those guys out the door. Huge failure on their part. Any jump with prevailing winds over 13 knots and someone is getting hurt.

was in Equatorial Guinea and often like to see what they are selling at local outdoor markets. Was looking at stuff and noticed a guy had a bunch of small monkeys laying in a table. Went over to see and a monkey blinked his eyes. I looked at the guy I was with and he said they catch them and snap their neck so they can’t run away. They didn’t have refrigeration so they do that sometimes.

I’ve read this entire thread & this disturbs me the most

Walked in a bathroom at school, and a kid had just committed suicide. It was awful. The smell, blood splattered everywhere, and the sounds of him gasping for air as he was still alive but died later at the hospital. I couldn't walk by the bathroom the rest of my time there.

I'm a 26 year veteran cop. Writing it all down would give me carpal tunnel syndrome. I've seen some shite and a lot of death.

It was Ft Bragg with the 82nd Airborne guys and Green Berets so you likely know what the rumors on post were. We heard their CO ordered the jump, knowing the conditions. Never heard the outcome.

Saw so many 82nd guys walking into a local pool hall on Bragg Blvd, saying "I am going to whoop arse on every redneck in here." and getting beat half to death with a pool stick. Bragg was home to some genuinely crazy soldiers and officers.

Did not witness this, but while I was there, a Black Knight doing a jump show demo., went into the ground in the middle of the parade field and they didn't even stop the show.

I was in my loft on the 11th floor in the 12 floor building getting ready for work. I heard a plane go over that sounded funny with a rattling noise. Some seconds later I heard a low frequency boom sound. I figured it was a commuter plane with engine trouble that crashed down town and that's I see it on the news in the evening.

My loft was 12 blocks above the WTC and that was the first jet that hit it.

Before D.C. went to hell, there was a lot less security everywhere.
I was standing on a corner, waiting for a light and a huge limo lumbered by slowly. The head of Saudi Arabia with his gold headpiece was six feet from me, President Nixon on the other side.

Contrast that with the twelve vehicle motorcade moving a VIP down an interstate (closed down) in Missouri a couple of years ago and the AirForce one flying over with a five jet escort when President Obama was on his way to a summit in Williamsburg VA.

I will keep it to car wrecks. (weird and paranormal shite would be multiple threads. )

I saw I guy on motorcycle guy killed when I was 8 in Baton Rouge.

We were behind my buddy outside Oxford screwing around and he missed a wooden bridge on a farm and landed his truck upside down in a creek. My buddy went down there I threw him a jack or something to him and he broke the window and drug him out. (And yes we were all drunk) He was fine.

Also around Oxford, I saw a bad wreck and we tried to get this car off this guy etc. but he died later at hospital.

I am the only known person to have a ford Firestone tire separation at 70 mph and not to flip over. I crashed into some bushes trees along I-10 but just cuts and scrapes.

I have been side swiped by 18 wheelers 3 times but never a scratch on my person, but still get anxious passing them.

Mostly have seen near misses etc

Our beagle snatched a corn dog out of our 3 year olds hand. He swallowed it stick and all before I could get catch him. Debated on taking him to the vet, but he never acted strange or like he was in any pain. So we watched him closely. 3 weeks later, I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and let him out in the backyard. When I let him back in, I looked in the backyard and there was what looked like a miniature brown snowman standing in the yard. He had passed the stick, and made a shitekabob, straight as an arrow. I took pictures of it and layed a dollar bill next to it for reference. The veterinarian made me send him pics and he let me know that it was the wildest thing he had ever seen.

I saw a gas release during a construction turnaround on Chevron’s MP313 (Might have been in MP 41 somewhere?) offshore facility. It never ignited, but there was gas everywhere, and a very high velocity stream of gas exited the vent scrubber emergency relief via an 8” rupture disk. It knocked an illuminated electric light off the leg of a jackup work boat that was about 15 feet away from the end of the vent pipe. The light was banging back and forth against the leg of the jackup while lit.

There was a natural gas cloud, from the underwater vent, all around the platform. People were running for their lives from the affected platform across a bridge to the one I was on. Luckily nothing lit it and no one was hurt, but there were easily 60 people on that platform, and I shudder to think what might have been.

Was working for a mowing company one Summer in high school, we had the contract for the Captain D’s in the area. One was located at a busy intersection, I was mowing the strip between the road and sidewalk when an elderly woman ran the red light and got t boned by a guy in a Dodge Ram doing about 45 or so. She was driving a Cadillac. The impact through him through the windshield and killed her instantly. He was laying on the front hood and she was crushed by his engine. It was not a pleasant experience. I am assuming one family sued the other because I had to speak to several different lawyers and detectives

Two buddies and myself were in Costa Rica to visit another friend working there.

We were touring a rain forest preserve in a rental car, drive up on a crowd of people blocking a narrow gravel road, they moved out of the way to let us pass, and as they moved there a full size pick-up truck, with the cab mashed by a large tree that fell dead center across the roof of the truck - driver was sitting inside the truck, necked snapped clean, with head laying on his shoulder, dead as door nail - must have happened just minutes before we drove up.

Just a fraction of second before or after, the guy’s truck may been taken out by the tree but he would have lived. We stopped “touring” and drove out of that rain forest as fast as we could all the while the 3 of us saying non-stop “holy shite” until we existed that forest.
