They got massive subsidies (which Tesla didn’t since they aren’t Unions and our Government DGAF about EV’s as much as propping up legacy union infused companies). They wanted the $$$$ for building them and they don’t really care if they sit.

Tesla meanwhile just cut their prices when these hit the market and began selling a shite ton more and shifted their profit to volume and away from margin, setting sales records and undercutting the glut of rushed-to-market POS versions out there.

This is a classic case of Government intervening in a market and distorting its fundamentals. Capitalism is based on supply and demand. The subsidies the legacy automakers got (which again Tesla did not simply because they’re not Unions, which was an entirely arbitrary reason) made demand irrelevant.

So now supply is bent out of it’s normal equilibrium within the market…and the EV automaker you tried to not-so-subtly punish still flourished by taking advantage of your dumb, interventionist moves and you’ve screwed the market as a whole…and oh by the way the legacies have to PAY Tesla to link into their charging infrastructure so Tesla continues to win.

It’s not a reflection of market reaction. It’s a reflection of an unnatural market intervention that caused said market to behave irregularly, ignoring supply and demand fundamentals.

My daughter has a Mach E and loves it. I have a Lightning and I love it. They do exactly what we wanted. Why ya'll want to throw shite on what we like. My Lightning will get up and haul arse.

How is posting an article "throwing shite" on anything?

The front of the Mustang E looks like a Fiesta.

You figure that out. It's not the title. It's the response.

That lightning may haul arse, but it can't haul a trailer.

10-15 minutes at a super charger. How many of these are there?
Around 17000 in the US, plenty enough. Unless you're going to really rural areas, you'll always have a supercharger available for any road trip you want to take.

How many people will be using them?
A few
quote:

How long will the lines be of people waiting to use it?
In 4 years, I've waited exactly 0 seconds for a stall every time I've used a supercharger.

The battery will die because it is sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for hours, or moving at 15-20mph. While the car is basically idling it is still using battery power to run the AC, radio etc.
This is literally an advantage for the EV. They can last longer than an ICE vehicle while idling, running an AC or going at slow speeds.
quote:

Yes the EV could make a trip at highway speeds that distance, but not when the time is tripled or quadrupled.
Again, this is where you have it backwards. The EV can go farther or longer in those situations you're coming up with.

My statement above refutes this as well.

It was factually incorrect, so it does not refute this at all.

Why spend $45k to $60k on the Mach-e when you can get a Tesla with better features for less? Ford over priced the market and are now suffering for it

Tell me you’ve never sat in a Tesla without telling me you’ve never sat in a Tesla. A Model Y which competes with the Mach-E is the cheapest piece of crap on the inside. Bare plastic for days. The damn thing doesn’t even have Apple Car Play/ Android Auto in it.

The lower end Teslas are cheap garbage on the inside. If you call a Christmas dance party mode on your 50k vehicle a feature, then I guess you’re right and the Mach-E can’t compete.

Vesting a name of a car with a long lineage in an SUV is equivalent to a Bud Light marketing move. The small SUV market is flooded and the Ford can only go by name recognition.

I hate the name but I don't think it's that bad looking for the type of car it is. I'm not interested in an EV and from the sales it looks like I'm in the majority.

Is it possible that people that wanted EVs already have them and they overestimated the demand?

Or they are just too expensive?

There is a reason.

For me it’s a few variables. We like to drive when we travel versus fly, so it doesn’t really meet the need of driving longer distances. Especially when only certain parts of the country have the infrastructure to support it. And when I’m home, I have a really short commute so there’s no reason for me to get rid of my current car which is paid off and works great.

for the twenty something daddy’s girl market Ford offered the Bronco and the Mach E at the same time. is it any wonder why bronco sales are through the roof while Mach E’s are struggling to sell?
