Had to get a new car earlier this year. Damn near every dealership I went to had terrible inventory of vehicles nobody wanted bloated with marginal features and "upgrades" that took the price from bad to outrageous.

Glad its coming back to bite the industry.

120 miles total or each way? If the first, most EVs these days would easily get you there. Even with the second, many would be fine as well.

I don't even have a EV preferred charging rate(multiple reasons), but my kwh is $0.10 per kwh. Depending on your EV, (like a model s long range is a 100kw battery for a 350+ miles range) or something like the f150 lightning extended range(131kwh battery for 300ish miles range). No ones is charging from 0-100%, but point being that equates to a $10-13 cost per "fill up". Many of the EV charging rates are 0.02-0.04 per kwh for off peak charging. So yeah pretty cheap.

Of course none of that factors the extra cost of the vehicle, cost od charger and installation etc etc. Which there are rebates to defray the cost.

I wouldn't buy an electric pickup unless I never intended to tow anything ever. Tech just ain't there, yet.

Yes, they designed a car, retrofitted / scaled up a plant(s) and procured inventory of pieces parts to manufacture enough of them to have them sitting on lots in less than a year.

Makes perfect sense.

Sure, for a Mustang they look terrible. But for a soccer mom car, it's better than most.

I don't think gasoline prices are high enough right now. I'm in Scotland now and they aren't doing much of the EV thing here either.

More like...apparently people don't want THAT EV. Teslas are all over the roads nowadays, so apparently people do want EVs, they just want Teslas for the most part.

My friend has a Mach E and loves it. In fairness he drove Prius before that. I got to drive it. Fast, quiet, and smooth. I was impressed.

No because EV sales are rising considerably every year. Again, no one wanting that specific car does not mean no one wants EVs.

Bunch of frickery here. The industry standard is "days supply", not the word salad above.

And the Mach E has a 116 day supply it appears.

A 60 day supply is decent with anything above that being excessive.

The battery will die because it is sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for hours, or moving at 15-20mph. While the car is basically idling it is still using battery power to run the AC, radio etc. Yes the EV could make a trip at highway speeds that distance, but not when the time is tripled or quadrupled.

Our tax $$$ have been being dumped into EV production for years.
Otherwise, the production of them would be miniscule.

Not only is the government paying these companies to build something almost nobody wants to buy, but they are using the same people's money who don't want them to pay for them.
