The Tesla Model Y was the best-selling car in the world in 2023 Q1. A first for an EV.

That's probably not correct:

quote:

...all the charts we could find from Tesla as well as from fawning electric-vehicle sites reporting on them, the company groups Model Y production and sales with Model 3 production and sales. Tesla delivered 412,180 Models 3/Y globally in the first quarter, and we can’t find the breakout among the two.

We reached out to Toyota for Corolla numbers, and the automaker reports it sold 740,561 Corollas worldwide in the first quarter of this year, counting all versions including the Cross. That’s about 75% more than Tesla, even if you count the Model 3 in with the Model Y. Sorry, Elon, not even close.

The luxury car market is about the same though.

Where everyone fricked up, is that they rushed to copy Tesla...and did it with all the creativity, ingenuity, and thoroughness of their normal fleet...which is shite. When all is said and done, all EV's will be Tesla & Asian auto makers. The Big Old American automakers need to pivot. If they were smart...they'd specialize in Hybrid models. But...they aren't smart. They are panicky and stupid. They will continue to run head first into a wall trying to go full EV. And the taxpayers will have to bail them out...AGAIN.

Had they just called it a Mach E and dropped the Mustang name it probably would've gone over better.

Ford is also charging more for over vehicles to subsidize their EV losses. It’s a bad move to want $65k for a bare bones F-150 that was sitting on a lot for 2 years waiting for chips

Maybe, just maybe, these big car companies are going to realize that consumers don’t see the practicality in EV’s. Maybe they’ll realize that people with common sense want to stick with ICE’s.

This is another situation where the Government is overstepping their boundaries and screwing up life for the regular masses by making all these unattainable fuel mileage regulations.

An exception. BMW / Mercedes race to the bottom. 2013 740i about $13k. $79k new. And probably $13k to replace the motor or trans when it eats itself.

This can't be true at all. I have only seen maybe 2 on the road ever, and made a comment about it on this very site about how these look like shite and are not selling. I was immediately jumped on by some idiot lib declaring them a phenomenal auto with incredible sales.
They look like an embarrassment to the original Mustang.

Is this the EV where there's the option to pump engine noises into the cabin so you feel like you're driving a real car?

Or they are just too expensive?

Dealers kept putting insane markups on them so people bought different EVs. It’s the dealership owner’s faults.

It's not an awful looking vehicle.

It's stupid as hell to call it a Mustang, though.
