UGA fan here coming in peace

I am a mid 30s young professional with a wife and 18 month old tired of all the bullshite in Atlanta.

Looking at cool places in the South to move to where my young son can grow up without the ghetto shite that has infiltrated Buckhead Atlanta.

Obviously Louisiana is super attractive given the low cost of living and abundant outdoor activities yall have at your disposal.

I have a good job thay lets me work remotely and my wife has family money so there’s flexibility in terms of location.

I travel for work regularly so the access to an Intl airport has me leaning NOLA.

What is the NOLA Buckhead/ Alpharetta/Vinings equivalent? Good private schools, restaurants/ bars country clubs, cool people etc?

Gracias !

This is a joke, right?

If it’s not a joke, New Orleans East is really up and coming, great restaurants, low crime and affordable housing. Lower 9th Ward isn’t bad either.

Sounds like you are looking to escape the cultcha. Understandable, but you are looking in the wrong place.

Uhh... have you heard the saying "from the Frying pan to the fire?" Your move is like from the frying pan to the surface of the Sun.

You’re tired of ghetto bullshite so your solution is to move to Baton Rouge or New Orleans?

Yeah…..I would highly recommend you visit first to see the shitstorm you’re about to enter.

Serious answer in case you aren't trolling:

If you are trying to avoid what is wrong with Atlanta....the demographics...BR and Nola are worse.

Go to Northshore (Mandeville, Covington, Madisonville, Abita) or Lafayette. Demographics are much better, and lifestyle much more enjoyable.

That being said, you should head northeast or north of ATL to Gainesville, Dahlonega, Cleveland, Ellijay, Blue Ridge, Blairsville, or even Murphy NC. I settled there recently. Excellent demographics. Never lock the door. I know half the town it seems. Only drawback is it's hard to find labor.

Ok, I’ll bite.

If you REALLY want to move to Nola, and you shouldn’t , my best guess would be Covington , Mandeville , Madisonville … at least from what I heard. Need to cross the “White Flight” bridge.

I live in Richmond/Katy (Houston). I grew up in South Louisiana. I got out as fast as I could.

Baton Rouge is great minus the traffic.
Home proximity to work is key.

And it’s actually safe.
From our DA:

90% of murders are drug dealers and gang on gang violence. The other 10% are domestic.
There’s like 4-5 areas where the murders take and it’s all in the ghetto.

The schools still suck but with only one kid you can swing private school easily.

A) Don't do it.

B) I suppose the Northshore is the most equivalent, but it's not right by the airport. I know there are wealthy pockets all over Orleans and Jefferson, but do you want to move into a pocket surrounded by shite?

C) Don't do it.

D) Definitely don't do it.
