I don’t buy shite I don’t need esp when spending on depreciating assets. I’ve never had a vehicle loan. I’ve also never spent more than $15k on a vehicle.

I've heard this as well. If they know your paying with cash you won't get the best deal. Go through the whole thing with them and say your interested in seeing what they can to finance it. Agree on price, see what they can do fir monthly note then say.....you know, I think I'll just pay cash for it.

Yes. The dealership will get a kickback from the credit companies for loans.

Find me a dealership in Louisiana that isn't charging MSRP + markup on any new vehicle even in this market that is slowly flattening out.

From the research I've done so far I can save anywhere from $2k to $6k for the same exact vehicle in Texas compared to in South Louisiana

You still have to pay a 4.45% sales tax whenever you register the car in Louisiana. Example:

$50,000 x 4.45% = $2,225

I think you might be able to claim that on your taxes, but I can't see that being that much of a benefit. I've considered doing the same by going to South Florida for a car and turning the trip into a vacation but the price on vehicles right now is still outrageously inflated.

There won't be one at all. We prefer you to finance.

What dealership do you work at because I’m interested in the 2023 Corvette 3LT for with the Z51 performance package including Magnetic Ride.

What's the max one could get (trade in value) for a loaded '21 Z71 with 30k miles...and what would you list it for?

It really doesn’t help. Salesmen will roll their eyes.
I had so much more leverage negotiating dealer financing (1.9%/72 months) than helping my retired grandpa pay $60k cash for a new truck.
My best advice is to go to a dealer with lots of slow moving inventory like Stellantis. At least this was the case a few months ago

I would try the Houston or Dallas area dealerships, they have a lot more inventory.

In my last negotiation after I told them at the end I was paying cash, I had the salesman go to his manager & come back out to me to actually say "I have spoken with my manager & we both agree we would rather you finance the vehicle instead". I laughed at him & said I am ready to go pay now. You can't make this stuff up.

I love it.. but im wondering, since many people now employ that method- wouldnt it be very easy for dealerships to adjust and say , during the negotiation process, and when giving you the final firm price- that it’s all predicated on you financing the vehicle ? It just seems like these snakes would easily be able to make that minor adjustment, so that people like us cant decide to pay cash after getting a firm price…

Make sure you get a simple interest loan with no early pay off penalties, do financing with them…get discounts, use leverage of financing etc.
Pay off loan in first 3 months.

Bought my last truck cash.
Sold my business and retired.
Wanted to reduce bills.

Made the deal.
I said I would look into financing or use my own credit union.
Left that open as I wanted to get a price before we went further.
Made the deal.
Cut them a check.

I negotiate every single part of the deal separately.

First.. Price.

Second... Lower price if I finance.

Third... Trade.

Fourth... One credit pull. Pay it off ASAP. The prepayment penalty doesn't exist if you don't have bad credit. The dealer says six months so they dont get charged back their flat. I paid my truck off with my amex as soon as the loan went active.

frick em.

Car dealerships exist to get people to use their finance dept.. the corporation ( they own the cars not the dealership) really just wants to write a loan.. the dealerships get kickbacks and better product the more loans they generate….

I have bought cash for most of my cars …
I tend to be upfront because if they do not give me a competitive price I walk out and let them chase me down or if not I just go to another dealership…. I have financed once to get the discount… the sales rep looked at me and said I am guessing your gonna pay this off after your first month.. he said would you consider waiting until the third month so you do not get flagged and corp calls us up and chews us all out..

I did since just cause I felt nice .. it cost me two months of finance charges but he was a nice guy.
