The Sound of Freedom, which opens in theaters Tuesday, has received a 92 percent "fresh" rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and a 100 percent rating from audiences who have seen the film ahead of opening day.

In a review for Variety, Owen Gleiberman said that "you needn’t hold extreme beliefs to experience 'Sound of Freedom' as a compelling movie that shines an authentic light on one of the crucial criminal horrors of our time, one that Hollywood has mostly shied away from."

quote:

"But as 'Sound of Freedom' informs us, it’s the fastest growing international criminal network the world has ever seen. A closing title states — accurately — that there are more people enslaved now, by sex trafficking, than there were when slavery was legal. And the nightmare lived by captured children is unspeakable, unimaginable…and all too real. Let’s be clear: This matters more than the cocaine or opioids industry," Gleiberman wrote.

The Pauline Center for Media Studies, a project of the Daughters of St. Paul, wrote that "Sound of Freedom plays like an action thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat at the same time as being a drama about Tim's first foray into rescuing trafficked kids. Caviezel's acting is spot on as he expresses Tim's horror at the reality these victims have endured and his determination to liberate them.

I'll pay to see this movie as a reward to them for making it, but something tells me I won't think it's all that great.

Soooo, basic Christianity is considered "extreme beliefs" by Glieberman.

Got it.

Because Hollywood is one of the main contributors. That’s one of the reasons it took so long to be released.

Looks pretty good. I didn’t realize this till I looked him up just now, but I saw this director’s other movie Bella years ago and I remember liking it.

Just watched it in a packed theatre, and loved it. Such a heartbreaking story. My suggestion would be to stay through the credits to hear the special message at the end.

Saw it today, and I was deeply moved. It was a hard watch, but I think it needs to be seen. There is nothing political in this movie, or really even faith-based for that matter. It's about children being sold as sex slaves, and the man who risked his life to save them. The only religious reference is "God's children are not for sale". If you don't believe in God, then simply remove that word and replace it with "Children are not for sale". The movie would be no different. I highly recommend this movie, I hope everyone sees it. If you want to go but it's not in your budget right now, you can claim a free ticket here:

We can no longer put our heads in the sand. The movie is an eye opener. Trafficking kids is an epidemic that Hollywood prefers to act like doesn’t even exist.

Who knew a movie about saving kids from being trafficked would be so controversial.

Wasn’t gonna go and see this in theaters but I’ve decided the more I’ve read about it, that I will support the film even with my little $10.70 ticket.

Going to see mission impossible Wednesday night and sound of freedom on Thursday night

I went to see this film wondering how the hell I would enjoy it knowing the subject matter. It was really well done. Disturbing at times and definitely made me sad by the end but it needed to be seen.

The message at the end is powerful.
