Why not just change your policy to have the tip included for that weekend, is there something illegal about that?

The establishments would do better by increasing their wages for front of the house employees.

Essence patrons are largely upper middle class. They're dumb as are most people on this thread as well.

To me examples like this show that stereotypes are real.
or that restaurants have struggled to hire enough workforce for a fully staffed shift in 2 years all over the country.... I'm not sure what cave you've been living in but I bet the rent and insurance has went up 50% in that time as well

This is a yearly thread. I hope you didn't think you had an original thought.

Stay away from the convention center area during the day and you will be just fine. Traffic around there is a shitshow already.

I'd rather have my life than having a couple extra bucks of tip money, but maybe that's just me.

Even the middle to upper class patrons of the festival are poor tippers. It’s a cultural thing. Speaking in facts, not bias.

You scared of the Essence crowd?

It stinks for many businesses this weekend. Half the white people in the Nola area head to the beaches for the 4th holiday. The ones left don’t want to go downtown because of fears of traffic and crowds.

Unless your place is right in the busy areas, this weekend sucks for business, not even including the tip issue.

Does this mean that they tip as expected because they’re not poor? I know a lot of present or former waitstaff who would beg to differ.

Cmon, baw, it’s a cool little arts and culture festival, live music and good speaker seminars. The best and brightest from all over attend. Atlanta would be poppin’.

I have a friend who is a state trooper. They have a presence in the city for this weekend. He said it is a pretty high class of people and there are very few problems.
I don’t think he would know about the tipping issue.
