This place is a cesspool. Just read the game threads from the CWS games. Dumb asses are going to dumb arse.

What were your opinions on him after he resurrected us from the Smoke years and then dismissed some of his 2007 studs because of character issues which led to 2008 and 2009? Or are you too angry to forget about that?

Do y’all think he would have won more championships if BBCOR never became a thing, or if Rosenblatt was never replaced?

Contrary to what the rant believes CPM is a genuinely good dude and has been a classy guy his whole career.

He obviously didnt leave the cupboard bare or LSU wouldnt be able to get to top so quick. A change was needed but he was still getting great players and had some bad luck with signees going to draft the last few years. Good for him.

.....bringing in the likes of Dugas, Morgan, Beloso, and especially Crews (amongst others) should NEVER,EVER be overlooked.

While I agree he’s been a class act, but if we’re going to give him credit for recruits then you should give it to Nolan Cain. Paul stopped recruiting. Belosa, Dugas, Morgan were coming to LSU no matter what.

I got to hang out with him for several hours last year, and in that little time he was 100% class, even with the women flashing him (Spanish Town parade). It was quite entertaining.

He slacked big time in finding arms. He could get one or two but never enough to compete at the highest levels anymore.
I always thought CPM was a great coach but it was time to move on from him.

For future reference, you should write “discussed ad nauseam” not “discussed AT ad nauseum”.
Ad nauseum is Latin and means “at nausea”.

I don’t hate PM, wish he hadn’t decided to nap after his NC and it was clear after 17 he went into nap mode again. Cain was the back bone of the recruiting that built this base. PM did a good job of letting Nolan work and PM has been a great for the program in his new role.
PM being around the program and a sounding board for Johnson and helping integrate old and new has been good.

Thank God for Scott Woodward. He saw how weak and horrible Paul was and quickly disposed of him
You're becoming one of the worst posters on this board.

I think I’ve heard JJ say he does talk to PM, just not as often as Skip. It makes sense though for Paul to be a bit more distant.

I like CPM a lot.
My only negative take was when he was interviewed on the field after the championship game. He deservedly so, took credit for finding Coach Jay and recruiting many of the championship players.
No disputing the facts, just seemed to be the wrong time to boast those achievements.
Didn’t upset me, nor am I critical of his actions, it just felt wrong at the moment he was saying it. All the focus should have been on the current coach & team and their accomplishment.

Agreed. I was critical of some of the situational play calling CPM did during the course of his last few years, and thought how great it was to see him and Bertman at the celebration. My initial thoughts were Jay Johnson is an extremely smart man to bring PM and Skip into the fold, not letting ego or pride get in the way, and showing the utmost respect to the two former LSU coaches. It has allowed all three to lead by example and be the best representatives for LSU at this time.

I liked Todd Walker's modesty last night, he said he's proud to have had "small" part in LSU's baseball successes

Paul did a lot of incredible things at lsu. Like telling Alex bregman to hit the ball on the ground and use his speed.

I hadn't seen that video. Pretty cool embrace between Mainieri and Jordan Thompson. Mainieri said he spoke with Thompson for about 10 minutes after game 2.
This is the video on the field after the championship where Jay runs up to Mainieri and they do the rest of the interview together. https://www.facebook.com/Shariefishaqwdsu/videos/6779604192050814
Also just came across this video with Jay and CPM at the hotel the next morning before they left Omaha. It's so rare and awesome to see your former coach and current coach get along so well like that. https://youtu.be/PZMOBnZ9XTI
