My 15-year-old kid wants to start dropshipping

My son has been trying to come up with ways to make money since getting a "real" job at 15 has proven somewhat difficult thus far. Yesterday, he asks if he can start dropshipping. Somebody give me the lowdown here. How much trouble could this become?
He also asked about setting up some social media marketing thing where clients pay him upfront and he uses a portion of those funds to contract a professional to do the actual marketing work - apparently overseas since his reasoning is a little bit of US dollars will be big bucks to those folks in less developed nations. It's a middleman model. I told him it sounds like a great way to end up on the wrong end of a lawsuit.
Anyone here have any better ideas that would be easy for him to do with minimal investment or risk? He's pretty zoned into stuff that he enjoys and has ambition. He doesn't need to make a ton (but of course he has Lambo goals.....thanks Youtube.) I feel bad to shoot him down at every turn.

He’ll be running drugs by 17.

He could end up buying a bunch of cheap garbage no one wants . I know someone who tried that with knives about 10 years ago. Sufficed to say, there were many b-day and Christmas gifted knives for a few years after that.

Yea the girl who cuts my hair does this. She tried to explain it to me one time. It sounded very essential oil - ish.

I don’t know what dropshipping is.
Get off my lawn.

Dropshipping is not nearly as easy as people on YouTube make it seem and there's a lot of competition. If he has a specific niche in mind then maybe he can make it work. But if he just wants some extra money, go cut some grass or something.

Pretty saturated thanks to YouTube gurus. Tell your son good luck.

Let him try and fail and use it as a learning of why “get rich quick” schemes don’t work. But make sure he has some guide rails so he doesn’t lose a ton of $ in the process.
There are scam YouTube/tiktokers that pimp drop shipping and affiliate marketing and retail arbitrage reselling non stop. They all show mansions and fancy cars and make “7k a week!!” which is where he likely got this idea.
He will realize all the people of above are actually making their money by selling their ebooks/“coaching” and courses to others and not the actual work itself.
People do make money doing these things, but it’s a lot of work (full time job) for not a lot of actual profit because the market is so saturated now

If it sounds to good to be true it is. If you live in BR let him come learn handy man stuff with me. If he’s not dumb and works hard he could be a millionaire by 40. No one knows or wants to do shite anymore. You can charge someone $200 to change a freaking door knob. Let his enthusiasm in wanting to make money translate into work ethic not 45 single white woman get rich schemes.

He could buy and sell sports cards on Ebay. I do that on the side and make about $800-$900 a month doing it (after expenses). It does take a shitload of time though.

Sounds like he should come to you with a detailed business plan, budget, and predicted revenues.
