If he has a plan and he thinks he knows what he is doing and it doesn't cost a lot of money up front, let him go for it. If he fails it will at least be a good learning lesson for him. He might think its a lot easier than it is.. Maybe he learns that if you want to make money, you have to out in the work.

My, now 22 yo, oldest son came to this conclusion at 17. Too many social media post I suppose. I encouraged it, if for no other reason than to learn “money don’t come easy”. He and a buddy each chipped in $500(earned through odd jobs) and, within 4 months, realized money, in fact, doesn’t come easy. They worked their butts off creating a website and researching products/pricing/marketing/etc. He’s now top 10% in law school so lesson well earned!

He's watching too many tiktoks thinking he'll be 20 in Bora Bora getting paid to do nothing.

If he wants to make money with the power of technology, tell him to go to garage sales and thrift stores and start flipping on eBay, Poshmark, and Mercari.

As long as people have some money, the service industry is always around.....grass cutting, hair cutting, house cleaning, car washing, etc. There's lots of need in the plumbing industry once he gets out of high school if he can apprentice somewhere and learn the ropes.

Drop shipping and drop servicing could work. Heck anything can work if executed properly. If he fails miserably he will learn a tremendous amount. If he succeeds he can buy you a nice place to retire to. I’d encourage him to become an expert at something involving ai. That skill is becoming very valuable and could lead to the kind of niche that could build a pretty sweet gig for a kid without any bills or obligations.

Other than the money and free drugs, a benefit of being a teenage drug dealer is the pussy.

And as long as you are a minor and don't frick around with guns, even getting busted is a slap on the wrist and exponged.

It’s terrible that retail jobs are not more prevalent these days. One of the first jobs I had and it taught me a lot.

You market it and sell an item. When they order, you order it from Alibaba or have it set that the order goes straight to the supplier. You carry no inventory.

I've been in the Ecommerce business for over a decade now. Dropshipping is dead unless you have the money to build a white label brand and the brains to execute marketing strategies properly.

I ran a plumbing dropshipping business from 2011-2016 where it was eventually sold for $20M to HAJOCA Corporation. They quickly learned what a poor investment they made and how the dropshipping model is done.
