An honest restaurant review

Went to Opies in Baton Rouge on Florida Blvd and here is an honest review from the one meal I had.
The building is beautiful inside and out. The owners did a great job with that.
I got the jambalaya and boudin. Both were average. The jambalaya tasted like it was a pre-made bag mix. I don’t know if it was or wasn’t, but that’s the taste I took away from it. It was too spicy which took away from the flavor. It was loaded with sausage but it only had 3 pieces of chicken at most.
The boudin wasn’t bad but it was pretty bland and wet. Yes, I know boudin should be moist but this had a bland moist aspect about it that didn’t help the flavor.
My only real complaint is no fountain drinks. You have to buy a bottled water or coke and with the food being spicy, not being able to get a refill is disappointing.
I would like to go back and try more. It has potential. I hope they can make it and succeed. I wish them the best.

The original post didn’t break any rules listed on the website. I guess they just didn’t want it on the sponsored thread. I’m fine with that. So yeah, we can review restaurants on the food board, huh? As long as we aren’t bashing them or getting personal.

I think an honest review by someone less of an asshat than this clown would be better received. I know I place zero value on his opinion.

I've never eaten at the restaurant, so I can't comment on the food other than the good reviews I've seen on Facebook posted in various restaurant threads and photographs that look attractive. This is the first I've seen that described the food as "average", but I'm sure I haven't seen them all. I hope to eat there at some point. Jambo is a long time good poster here. I hope he does well.

They’re a sponsor of the site and he posts here if I’m not mistaken. That said, agreed. Just from the pic it looks 3.5/5. If he can improve off feedback from reviews it can only help.

I agree. However, there are ways to make canned green beans good. I can deal with that. I have an employee who does a miracle with them. It’s disappointing to get heated canned beans with no changes.
I put a lot in of weight into sides, but, I may be in the minority.
