My only complaint is the bottled water. Let’s get a fountain drink machine in there! I know it costs money, but I hope to see it one day so I can eat lunch and refill my drink.

I'll happily give you unlimited bottles of water from my own cooler if it makes you happy. The reason I didn't want fountians is because I don't want to burden my staff with cleaning the machines, changing syrups, filling CO2, and cups and ice, straws and lids, because these things take valuable time away from serving you quickly and accurately. Odds are, something will need to be changed in the middle of a shift, and with only 2-3 people working, I don't want you to be waiting. The bottles are always cold, you can put you lid on and take it with you, and they're super consistent in flavor.

We make way less profit on bottles, but again, it's a quality and cleanliness thing.

We're a crawfish and boiled seafood shop

Boudin, cracklins, plate lunches were supposed be secondary. We WERE going to close until crawfish season and only open 6 mos out of the year

We're just giving the people what they want and trying to keep good employees working full time

I'm not a bit butt hurt about any of it.

Well said and done. This is how it ought to be. Accepting and learning from criticism is fundamental to any success, especially when running a restaurant.

I wish you success and hope you develop this into a standout place. You have the right attitude

Good time to put in some SOP with regards to drink machine maintenance. Check bags before the shift and have one ready if it’s low (they don’t run out nearly as frequent as you may think). Soak nozzles when you leave for the day. Customers get their own ice/lids/straw. Easier than keeping stock of cans and bottles, more money to the bottom line, more money to pay your staff and the get free drinks

Exactly lol. If the food sucks, the owner should worry about that and not TD. I have also never had it but that whole plate looks like something i could get in the pre-made section at Rouse's

My issue is less with the green beans and more with the par-boiled rice.

I think this comes down to personal preference. I like par boiled rice and use it in my own jambalaya.

Appreciate the feedback and review. I'm not a bit butt hurt about any of it. Most everything is housemade, green beans are not one of them. Mac, collards, white beans, cabbage, are. Whether I'm a poster, advertiser, or owner, I always welcome feedback and want everyone to be happy. Let me know next time you're around, and I'll show you around the kitchen. I'd love for you to try some fresh fried louisiana catfish and shrimp. EVERYONE, is entitled to their opinion, and I'm all about service and quality.

Such a good response, you have always impressed me with your PR, I will
Never forget when Martini came on here bitching about you using premade tartar sauce and you turned it around on him and got him to help you with a homemade version, and he became one of your fans, hats off to you and wish you the best

I wish you much success. We loved Opie's on Government.

I laughed when I saw your new location, as I lived in the townhomes directly behind the fence, in your parking lot. It's the old Wendy's. I would have been a very loyal customer, in walking distance. Best wishes!

Had Opie's today for lunch. Cowboy fries, pepperjack boudin balls, and cracklins. Everything was fantastic, great job Jambo. The cracklins are some of the best I've ever had. I'll have to come back for smoked burger soon.

Hey Jambo, good work on the new place my reviews and photos are already on Google Maps and we met that day I helped y'all get that big azz TV in the back of your truck....
But anyway I was going to ask if you had reached out to River Road or Community coffee to see about getting some of their restaurant Tea/Sweet Tea set ups for your place?
I don't drink that much soda so not having a fountain drink machine is not very important to me, but I do love me some sweet tea with a big old plate of food!
Just wondering if it was ever going to be an option?
