I think an honest review by someone less of an asshat than this clown would be better received. I know I place zero value on his opinion.
Same. That plate he posted though looks like school cafeteria food, so this is one of those moments when I have to pinch my nose and agree with 6thAndBoloney. Plus all the people simping for everything Chicken makes that a bit more palatable to do.

My review….
Everything has way too much smoke. Cracklin = smoky, boudin = smoky…
Boudin needs rice and liver badly, like loads more liver. Needs a fresh boudin option that’s not smoked.
Everything else was really good. It was an enjoyable meal and will fit BRs tastes well. It’s just not in the mold of a true Cajun market / gas station. That’s ok…it’s just not gonna bring me back over and over.
Highlights were the chicken crackling and boudin balls imo.
I think it’s on the right track just doesn’t fill the hole in BRs food scene I was personally hoping.
Still happy to support a good dude and staff.

So the potential is what moves you to go back and try it again? Guess that’s fair if the first trip wasn’t so good it had you shaking in your seat.
It wasn't a bad meal, it was just an average lunch place, but definitely not above average. It just needs some improvement, based on the one meal I had. I would like to try the fried fish next time.

Jambalaya looks good. I highly doubt it is a packaged deal.
Mac looks great too

Wait, so because of this, posters have to kiss this restaurant’s arse? We have to pretend this place has good food because they spend money on this site?
*I have no idea if the food is good or not. I’m just making a point about censorship.
ETA. That’s a sorry looking bit of green beans. Jambalaya obviously used par boiled rice.

I mean it looks on par with what you get for a $10 jambalaya plate at a fundraiser. The mac and cheese looks bomb, but I'm sorry, a place just loses me when canned green beans are a side.

Honestly embarrassing that some are trying to strike down an honest restaurant review because of who the poster is. It's a very valid review, and being a sponsor here puts you in the bullseye a bit.
I found all criticism to be very fair.

I mean it’s a blue collar plate lunch, canned green beans have been a staple for decades. Same with those crappy side salads and the like. If it was corn, would you expect them to shave the kernels off a freshly picked cobb?
Y’all would be crying about the price if the guy was using fresh beans

Well said.
It’s like a middle school playground around here sometimes.

Would probably be cheaper and much tastier. I’ve seen places use fresh green beans as a side. It can be done.
People here shouldn’t be upset when others point out that canned vegetable aren’t an acceptable side in a restaurant. This isn’t a gas station.

Appreciate the feedback and review.
I'm not a bit butt hurt about any of it.
Most everything is housemade, green beans are not one of them. Mac, collards, white beans, cabbage, are.
Whether I'm a poster, advertiser, or owner, I always welcome feedback and want everyone to be happy.
Let me know next time you're around, and I'll show you around the kitchen. I'd love for you to try some fresh fried louisiana catfish and shrimp.
EVERYONE, is entitled to their opinion, and I'm all about service and quality.

Sounds great! I do plan on getting some fried seafood and a link of boudin. I’ll just choose some of your other sides to sample.

Fresh green beans cooked down with onions and a little bacon is one of my favorite sides.

Tastier, sure. It’s not a cheaper food cost and certainly involves more labor
I would’ve been more shocked to see fresh green beans for a place like this tbh

Big ups to you for taking constructive criticism. My issue is less with the green beans and more with the par-boiled rice.
Green beans could use some work though.
Good luck on your endeavor.

Now that is how you respond to a food review like the one in the OP. Your response makes me want to give your place a try.
You should talk to the owner of Past Time...

Jambo is a stand up guy. He's also offered some help on this board to someone who was in a jam as I recall.
If you eat there, try to let him know if he's not too busy.

Thank you!
We try the best we can. We are NOT going to make everyone happy. Some will rave and some will not come back. We try to deliver the best we can, but let's face it, people have different tastes and wants/needs.
I get it. It's a tough industry.
My team and I are VERY proud of what we put out, and if/when we disappoint a guest, we ALWAYS try to make it right, No excuses, no passing the blame, just FIX IT.
I'm not trying to reinvent the canned green bean

You have an issue with a place you've never been to?

Exactly. I look forward to trying it again. I made it clear that it was based on one single meal and that I wasn’t calling it bad.
The green beans were fine. It’s a plate lunch, that’s what you get.
My only complaint is the bottled water. Let’s get a fountain drink machine in there! I know it costs money, but I hope to see it one day so I can eat lunch and refill my drink.

I know. I like med grain rice too, But with volume we do, and trying to keep it all hot without mushy or clumps, it's the best way I know how to do it.

Canned, heated, tony's - take it or leave it LOL - Nah, seriously though, it's a convenience thing for people that really wanted them and like them. It just is what it is.
