At this point I'm not even blaming Thompson. This is on Jay and the rest of the staff for not making him see pitches. No fricking excuse for him to be colder than anyone in the CWS and still have the option to swing first pitch in this situation.

Thompson not taking pitches is the only thing I’m pissed about. That’s just inexcusable from a player and coaching standpoint. At minimum, he should see 3 pitches every at bat.

If you swing and make shitty contact on the first pitch, you aren’t giving their pitcher the chance to throw any balls.

Three pitch Ks are okay. I still want him pitching to more to contact and shortening ABs. 72 pitches through 5.1 IP.
