One other thing to consider. I've talked to my SB people over several controversial issues and I learned that not all political issues are mandated by the HQ. They are allowed to take votes of all employees at a specific store on some issues and if a clear majority don't want to fly the gay flag in their store they don't have to.
The reason for allowing the vote is that SB realizes some stores serve a much more conservative customer base than other stores.

It doesn’t even have to be a moral based rejection. Any person that rejects their ideology is designated an enemy and violence against them is justified. Whether they be 8 year old children or not is irrelevant to these people.
