$20,0000 Gambling Debt on Credit Card

Was in debt 45k in November 2021 all on credit cards via gambling debt (online poker) but have knocked down the debt to 20k. I was able to take out a 24k loan through CITI in March to consolidate all my credit cards into one big loan at 8.9% interest. Is this the best interest rate yall think I can get? My credit ranges from 795-810.

That sounds like a decent consolidation rate. Of course it won’t really matter unless you find a way to quit gambling.

You aren't still playing, are you?

You could probably find some credit cards that are offering 0% interest on transfers for an introductory period of time (usually 12 months).

If you have to max out the new card with a balance transfer, your credit score will likely take a ding. But that should be a minor concern, and if it does drop a bit, it would only be temporary. Just be diligent in paying it off before the introductory rate falls off.
Good man by getting back on track. I wish you luck going forward.

If you really are still playing, what site? And what is your screen name?
Never enough fish in the sea.

I had to do this with sports betting. Bet with a different bookie to pay another one. Dark times.

You are only down that much because you quit. Thats where they get you, people get down alot and quit. Vegas never quits, thats why they are still in buisness. Do you think you would have quit had you won 45k? No... and guess what, you would have ended up losing that back, because vegas didnt quit. So why quit when you are down 45k, it just takes a couple good hands to be right back even.

Er… Vegas is still in business because the odds are stacked in their favor on all the games they offer. The edge varies from game to game, but their edge is always there. That’s why they ban card counters and use multiple decks in blackjack.

The House Edge
No matter what game you choose to play, the odds of the casino winning your money are greater than the odds of you winning the casino’s money. That’s because all casino games are designed to provide the house with a built-in edge, diminishing the chances and sizes of potential payouts.

Jesus dude I would advise you to get help with gambling if you are not already doing so. Good on you for trying to find a way to pay this down ,but 45K in gambling debt on a credit card I hope you see that this is a huge problem.

Props to you for turning things around and quitting online poker.
Just make sure you apply this to online sports betting. I can only imagine the amount of people who were turned upside down ever since it became legalized.
I learned my lesson when I was 12. Had a poker night at a friends house. Lost everything within 15 minutes and taken advantage of by seasoned players. Had to spend the next few hours watching the other kids play which made me regret doing it in the first place.
I know one guy who lost his marriage from it, and know of another guy who is in the hole like you are and is keeping it secret from his wife.
Stay away from it.
