A Starks man has been arrested after being accused of shooting a 14-year-old girl in the back of her head, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Spokeswoman Kayla Vincent says deputies were called out to a home in Starks early in the morning on May 7, in reference to a shooting. When deputies arrived they say they found the girl with a gunshot wound to the back of her head.

Upon investigating the incident, detectives say that several juveniles were playing hide and seek in the area and were hiding on the neighbor’s property. When detectives spoke with the property owner, David V. Doyle, 58, he says he saw shadows outside his home, went inside, and got his firearm. Detectives say Doyle told them that when he went back outside he saw people running away from his property and began shooting at them, unknowingly hitting the girl.

The girl was admitted to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Doyle was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center for aggravated battery, 4 counts of aggravated assault with a firearm, and the illegal discharge of a firearm. His bond is still pending.

I mean don't randomly shoot people but how hard is it to stay off of property that doesn't belong to you?

Sorry if anyone here knows the girl. Hope she recovers.

ETA:

This is where the shooter lived according to googling him.

He doesn't exactly have neighbors so what were the kids doing there early on Sunday morning?

Well, we started the day off with a baby's head being pulled off. Now, we have a headshot for a late lunch.

I don't want to know what dinner will bring.

That’s where he fricked up. This guy is going to rightly be convicted of attempted 2nd degree murder. What a dumbass.

Edit: didn’t realize she lived!

They're kids playing hide and seek.

You never hid around someone else's property playing hide and go seek as a kid?

I mean frick. I get that people are hypervigilant because of break ins and things along those lines but this is getting a bit ridiculous.

I'd like to know more about the situation.

It's one thing to pepper someone with birdshot and another to use a pistol or rifle.

age of irresponsibility. Kids will say they aren't at fault, parents will say the kids arent at fault, shooter will say he aint at fault.

They're all at fault.

I didnt say it was

The "but" is that kids shouldn't just be roaming onto people's property

It's Starks. If you knew anything about Starks you would know that a neighbor is several hundred feet away on average. An old dude alone on his property in Starks and you are running around his house is asking for trouble.

For their own safety people need to stay off of other people's property.
