They're all at fault.

Best way to sum it up.

I'm not a revisionist here and going to say I never hid behind a tree is someone else's yard playing hide and go seek in our neighborhood. We absolutely did. But our neighbors weren't fricking paranoid psychos either. And we generally watched out for each other.

Some of y'all must've been perfect children.

I played hide and seek all over the neighborhood and we hid at all kinds of peoples houses and I never got shot at. Adults can stay off my lawn but kids can play.

Understandable. And my parents would probably sit me down in this day and age and say just that.

But to act like it doesn't happen is silly. Hell, my neighbor's kid's football regularly lands in our yard. He doesn't mess with my flowers or anything else. I don't feel compelled to come to the door with my firearm whenever he crosses into our yard. But that's apparently ok to some folks.

You probably had their permission. Starks is full of meth heads that hang out at the Sabine River. A few meth heads shot a guy I went to HS with a few years back and stole his truck and side by side.

I would be vigilant too if I lived in some parts of Starks.

Hyperbole is fun. It wasn't about being perfect but my parents absolutely taught me better than to wonder onto people's property.

I used to live in the country and kids would cut through people's property all the time as shortcuts and it was never a big deal. Nobody ever pulled a gun.

There are no neighborhoods in Starks, LA. Completely different.

The OT: "we're responsible gun owners here"

Also the OT: "i mean let's not jump to conclusions, shooting a fleeing 14yo could be reasonable"

I am wondering what he shot her with for her to be alive. Must have been a .22 or small caliber.

Where did I say it was reasonable?

I said from the beginning he needs to be charged.

Why are you making shite up? Just because I said kids shouldn't trespass?

No it is not and particularly so when they're running away.

Because in most of your posts in this thread the big solution is "well kids shouldn't have been there". Like kids haven't done stuff like this for most of our lives and then some.

Not that the adult involved should've acted like a fricking normal adult like most of us gun owners do.

The irony of all this is that the more that these old arse guys who hunker down and shoot with impunity at any random person within the vicinity of their home they make it harder to continue to protect 2nd Amendment rights of the rest of us. They're just feeding the narrative.

But nobody wants to have that personal responsibility conversation.

I do wonder how many of you excused the old dude that shot the black kid who knocked on his door a few weeks back. I remember that thread going totally differently than this one.

Do you know what time this occurred? Article merely states early in the morning. Are we talking midnight to 2AM or in the daylight hours? Different times create different reactions.

It's not a solution but a fact. They shouldn't have been on someone's property

The guy also shouldn't have shot people running away.

Both are true no matter how you defend it.

LOL at you for saying this while excusing the kids for trespassing.

How did I know the race of the shooter before clicking on the link?

That’s one of the oldest looking 58 year olds you’ll ever see.
