Didn’t they experiment with this in 2006??? If so, brainLes did. I know it was something w/the clock to try and shorten the game to 3 hrs.

Anytime LSU was on CBS
But- did we, really?
The game starts at 2:30 on a Saturday, are you really and truly upset that it might go until 6?
Or that one starting at 7 goes past 10? If it's a good game, it can go to midnight and I would be happy.

I wish they would at least do 1 thing like the nfl…you should not be down if you’re not being touched. A little slip and your knee touches the ground with nobody within 20 yards should not end a play.

Les Miles would have considered this as adding the GMAT to the ACT all on one test.

It would have been a frikin nightmare.

Why shorten games anyway? Is anyone really complaining that watching their team just takes too damn long? If you don't want to watch just check the score later. Why try and screw up the game?

I agree. The issue is they want to be able to fit more commercials in the same time frame by eliminating 10-15 plays. There are better ways to shorten the broadcast that don't eliminate plays but viewing quality isn't their goal.

This sucks. Stop cutting into actual playing time.

If the game doesn’t stop as much then there can’t be more commercials.
This is to have less plays and shorten the game.

But why would I want to shorten something g that I look forward to year round?
Exactly. But there are people who cry incessantly about the length of games. Especially on sports radio. It's a three month season and people are constantly antsy year round about the new season's kick off, but then they want to shorten the experience. Ridiculous.

Underdogs should love there being less plays in CFB… it would help their chances

Sadly this was likely done to add more commercials....

I would prefer if they left the rules as is.

Trash. Way to needlessly tinker with the rules of one of the most gripping, exciting, suspenseful sports in the American landscape. All to accommodate TV. There will now be fewer competitive games in the fourth quarter, fewer comebacks, fewer points, less drama, and fewer thrilling conclusions.

Less plays per game. More time for reviews and commercials. Actual playing time from “snap to whistle” will drop even further. Approximately 18% of a 60 minute game is actual “playing time”

Think the reason the ncaa is claiming to do this is to reduce the number of plays per game which will reduce the number of hits players are taking through out the entire year with the extended number of games coming to college football. But we all know the real reason this dumb crap is happening!

Heckfire...he couldn't deal with clock stoppages on first or any other down. How many games did Les lose due to faulty clock management? I know of at least two such losses, and a third that he got lucky because the official ruled that a Tiger runner got out of bounds, even though he clearly didn't
