With the upcoming recession, are you taking your money out of the market or are you going to ride it out?

Depends on horizon, I'm in my 30's. Letting it ride.

I’m in my 30’s too. Thinking about selling all then buying low.

Ride the wave. Quit trying to predict the market especially in your 30's.

No, I was serious. This is my first “recession” since I’ve been investing. From the responses, sounds like a stupid idea, so I’m going to ride it out with my money in the market.

prolly a good thing to do, considering your age.

Amazing you see this coming but the market does not.

I just sold NVDA today. It may keep going up, but at 92% gains I was content for now. I am going to sell WWE and META this week, too. They been on a tear this year, so I am content with taking gains. They may continue to go up, but I am selling into May and going away for now. I had so many losses last year that taxes are not a consideration in these sells or I may have had a different strategy.
I’ll keep holding some other long term stocks. I think the market still has room to go up, but I am content taking some gains and seeing what the summer holds.
ETA: I am still DCAing in retirement investments, i.e., not changing anything based on some predictions of recession.

My in-laws, just about to retire, panicked in the 2008 market correction and sold all their stocks. They lost a third of their nest egg, then bitched and moaned as they watched the market climb. 15 years out and they will likely live at least ten more years from now. They had plenty of time to keep a significant portion of their holding in stocks, but were ruled by fear.
I'm in my 50s, plan to work another 15 years, and hopefully live at least 30-35 years from now. I'll be heavily in the market for quite a while.

Gotta make as much as you can in the market since the boomers won’t be leaving any of their boomer welfare for us millennials

If it was that easy, stocks would be worth zero right now because everyone would have sold for the "upcoming recession" that every single person and their mother is predicting

You need to read this book called “The Psychology of Money” by Morgan Housel. Actually everybody needs to read it.

Why not just buy a winning lottery ticket? Way better returns.

He’s definitely a troll
Same guy comes on here all the time for ridiculous advice he doesn’t follow.
If you had just bought the index funds people told you to buy months ago, you wouldn’t have to sell anything to buy at a later date.
Set it and forget it bro

Let it ride just like we did in the crash of the dot com, 08, March 2020 Covid year and now. Cash out then you owe the government tax money on gains. I build up a small cash reserve with divy payments for dips.
