NPR Stops Posting On Twitter Account Because Of “State-Affiliated Media” Label

NPR said that it has stopped tweeting from its main Twitter account after the platform labeled the news organization “state-affiliated media.”
A spokesperson said that the outlet stopped posting from @NPR “after they attached that false label to it because each tweet we publish would carry it. We have paused tweeting from that account until we hear back from Twitter on this. We’ve continued tweeting from our other accounts that aren’t mislabeled.”
NPR also changed its Twitter bio to read, “NPR is an independent news organization committed to informing the public about the world around us. You can find us every other place you read the news.”
NPR business reporter Bobby Allyn, in an email exchange this week with Twitter owner Elon Musk, wrote that Musk acknowledged that the label “might not be accurate.” But as of Friday, it is still on the account.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles public media KCRW said that it is no longer sharing content on its main Twitter account.
The station said that the “state-affiliated media” label is “a term the platform applies to propaganda outlets in countries without a free press, a guaranteed right in the United States.
“This is an attack on independent journalism, the very principle that defines public media. Twitter has since doubled down on the label, which is outrageous and further undermines the credibility of the platform.”

Perhaps we can start following NPR on the Tik Tok now.

If they have a problem with it, stop accepting government funds.

If they are so independent why are almost all their news submissions left leaning.

As a compromise, maybe he could rebrand them "State-Funded Media" instead? What could NPR say then?

Sounds like something state media would do.

Great. Another media platform I'll never see or hear NPR on.

Waaa we're really not state affiliated! It's just a coincidence that our reporting always fluffs up establishment shite and vehemently destroys anything that criticizes the establishment.

I’d rather see the tag “Media partner of the Democratic National Committee”

If NPR doesn’t like this, they can start their own platform, am I right?
Just saying, this was parroted a lot when republicans/conservatives complained about being mistreated.

How can you claim to be independent when you accept government funds? NPR is a bunch of babies.

Rather than address it, they run away from it. Yeah, that doesn't look bad.

Exactly.
This is an issue between two private companies, per NPR.
