Noah's Ark off of Jefferson. They could have charged admission just to walk through that place as it was on par with an aquatic zoo.

Shoney's on Florida. Hot fudge cake was the best.

I can't begin to tell you how many time I signed up my roommate for free tickets. They legitimately would call him once a week.

The Oak Manor
Wheee exactly was that? Wasn’t it at the corner of Coursey and Airline? It was at the corner of something and Airline.

The Oak Manor was north of where Cortana Mall is now, at 8181 Airline Highway. I remember covering a Woodmen of the World meeting back in the days when I was a cub reporter.

Oak Manor was where the Home Depot is now in Airline.
Had two private swimming pools with clubhouses in the back. The Marlin Club was one of them. Can’t remember the other club. Maybe the Quarterdeck Club.

Nobody's gonna admit to visiting Sugar's on Tom Drive back in the day?
In a not-so-NSFW category, how about Hawk's Nest???

Cortana
Before Cortana, there was a large, vegetated area to the N and E of where Cortana was built. Water soaked into that area, instead of flooding Broadmore subdivision.

I’ve been to:
Cortana Mall
Bon Marche Mall
The Robert E. Lee theater
Fun Fair Park
Broadmoor Theater
Pac-A-Sac
the pink pizza place on Gov’t St.
Baums Bakery
Ride by: when Towne Center was a local airport, then the Arabian farm. Now it’s nothing but cluster and traffic on that side of town where it was once quiet and Burger King at Lobdell and Jeff Hwy was literally the only place to get food.

Why am I thinking that this was on Jefferson at Government in that strip?
And how about Steak and Egg on Florida? Old Mike Anderson’s on Highland? Del Lago? Showtown USA?

Hawk's Nest - is that the place that was off of Sherwood behind Mango's? I've eaten there. Not bad. Sorry to see it close.
