I remember the Mill on Essen. Great sandwiches don’t remember the beer.
They used to have a place that did their own beer like 25 years ago next to where the Hayride Scandal bar is. That places went through so many different bars and restaurants. At one point was a Mexican restaurant.

Screaming Coyote was the name of the restaurant before it became Poet’s.

That was it. Linebackers on Essen was another that was good. What was the name of the place that made their own beer there. Had huge copper kettles. Somebody put a lot of money into that place.

Was there another one (or something similar) on Highland near Lee? Maybe near where CVS is now? Before the Lee Drive extension was added.

Hopper was great. My dad worked there in high school in the late 60s. When we would go to the one in the mall, the owner would come by and chat, and would comp us desert.

The owner of Noah’s has a relative who posts here. It was a great store and he was an even better man.

Does anyone remember a breakfast/lunch spot called Cafe St. Charles on St. Charles one block north of Government? It’s been a few places since but Cafe St. Charles was the first restaurant to occupy the building (early 80’s) that prior to that was a Keans Fine Dry Cleaning.

Where was this located?

The first Baton Rouge Poets (mid 1980's) was located in Village Square shopping center, about where the canned goods section of the College Drive Walmart is now. The original Great Wall (Chinese restaurant) was about where the milk section is.

Poets moved from their original location to the approximate location of Hayride Scandal by College and Corporate by the early 1990's

Mansur's moved into the old location where Poets was at Village Square and remained there until Walmart bought the shopping center and had it leveled. Mansur's then moved to Corporate Boulevard and became Mansur's on the Boulevard. The Great Wall moved into the building up in the corner of the Walmart parking lot where Juicy Seafood is now.

The first location was in Catfish Town. When Catfish Town went south, then off to Bluebonnet.
