A Houston teen accused of slamming a mom of three into the ground and leaving her paralyzed during a robbery was reportedly heard on jailhouse phone calls confessing to the crime and ridiculing the victim.
The audio recordings of 17-year-old Joseph Harrell’s conversations were obtained by station ABC13 from a source close to the investigation after a judge made a controversial decision to slash the suspect’s bond in half to $100,000.
“We were snatching purses,” Harrell said on the jailhouse recording. “I hopped out, snatched the purse, the lady ran with the money, I grabbed her, slammed her and she was paralyzed.”
Harrell was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and robbery after being caught on camera body-slamming Nhung Truong in Houston on Feb. 13. His accused getaway driver, 19-year-old Zy’Nika Woods, was also jailed on a robbery count
Cops said the teen suspect followed the woman for 24 miles from a bank to a shopping center to steal $4,300 in cash she had just withdrawn for an upcoming trip.
quote:
Speaking to an unknown person on the jailhouse recording, Harrell griped about Truong’s GoFundMe fundraiser and laughed at the prospect of being imprisoned for up to 20 years for the violent purse-snatching.
“The lady probably wants justice and some more (expletive),” Harrell said. “They’ll try to max me out 20 years basically. That (expletive). I ain’t going for it.”
He continued, talking about Truong’s online charity drive: “The (expletive) already ran up $230,000 off GoFundMe. (Expletive) better run on with her life.
“Like, (expletive) you done run up $230,000. Look. They say she ran up $230,000 and she’ll be back walking in no less than a year.”

The so-called “jugging” attack left the 44-year-old single mother unable to walk after suffering a fractured spine and other serious injuries.

Why are the police and media using hip-hop terms from 10 years ago?

Kill him. It's the only way this kind of shite stops. Hoodrats don't respond to anything else besides violence.
ETA: Make his friends and family watch him be killed so they get the message that hoodrat shite will no longer be tolerated.

Yes! Way to go Democrats! Another foot soldier on the streets again soon enough to terrorize more law abiding citizens.
Another big win for team Blue!

I assume the "stop Asian hate" protests will be organized shortly, right?

How was this not an inside job? Just followed a random bank customer for twenty plus miles? I’m waiting for a news story where they bust the bank employee that alerted the perp to the large cash withdrawal.

If there is one iota of justice in this world that little shitbird will pay with his life.

We need eye-for-an-eye legislature. Paralyze this bastard and give him back to his friends/family.

There's an adult in that group of "friends and family" who was supposed to be responsible for raising his sorry arse, for making sure he wasn't roaming the streets at all hours of the night, for making him get up and go to school from an early age; etc.
That adult bears some of the responsibility for the behavior of the punk who committed the crime and that adult should do time in prison for aiding and abetting...

You forgot to also post the part where he was currently out on bond for unlawful carrying of a gun in January and was also facing charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in another matter from February. This POS will clearly not be deterred from committing more crimes.

This is a "new" criminal trend it seems. Pieces of shite park and watch banks. They wait for people to leave, looking for withdrawal envelopes and such, follow them, then rob them when/where they stop. There's some ridiculous name for it that I can't remember.
Seriously, though, tell your peoples to watch their backs when leaving a bank.
